It's beyond cold here in NY, I've been here for eight years and don't remember it being this cold for this long it's rotten. Tomorrow could get down to a feel temperature of -26C. The snow was literally blowing sideways and up in midtown yesterday. The snow froze to the wheels and arches in minutes on the way back from the train station, I hate snow.

When I was scraping ice off the car in November I thought we'd be in for a long, cold winter but it's shaping up to be yet another one with no snow whatsoever. No fun to be had.
Yeah, it looks like Winter is pretty much over for this year.

About another 4-6 weeks of rain and slightly-above-zero temps, and then Spring arrives.

Chances of a long, hard Winter in England and Wales (and most of Scotland) are now close to zero, due to global warming.
You are probably correct but there is always the curve ball, but the minute the nights start drawing out properly, borrowed time, then you get that crap dusting in March.

That looks like only 1" snow !

Serious question. Will the various heating systems in people's homes cope ok with such a prolonged cold spell or are they all likely to struggle (I've no idea).

Looks like wind blasted snow from how it lies/ the structures in it. So in that place you'd likely have very little snow. That said, not loads of snow behind. Not sure how the wheels are a problem now, as I have a lot worse snow in the wheel arches etc normally!

I am in Toronto, we have our forced air heating on,better to keep it on than let it get too cold, nice and toasty inside its 25c, outside -20c.. yet I have frost on the inside of the windows and its not going anywhere.

Can't wait till Thursday, will get the swimming trunks out...

Keep an eye on overnight temperatures. Some higher parts of Scotland could hit -15c to -20c.

Demonstrating your wide lack of knowledge and daft postings also extend to the weather now too. Incredible.

I think even Geordie women on a night out may put a cardigan on for that.

To be fair the top of Mt Washington was wind chill of -90, but most of NH had -40 predicted. https://www.google.org/publicalerts/alert?aid=c3a5...

Yipper spoke the truth here it seems. A wind chill of -73c. How can anything even survive that!?

Most people don't understand wind chill. https://www.phdesigns.co.uk/windchill

Basically, wear good windproof outer layer and keep extremities covered. Being blown over or snowblinded in high winds is probably a bigger concern.

Furry pants. Mt Washington is notorious for bad conditions.
