Agree about the sun shining, but it was still very chilly outside, even in the sun! I'm hoping that the 27th wasn't my last snow for this winter frown

Is there any chance at all we'll end up getting just a taste of the North American snow fall? how long does it usually take for a weather system that large to cross the Atlantic.

Not long but the weather systems warm up over the Atlantic and we get wind and rain instead.

The Sahara received a temporary covering of snow over the weekend. It was confined to the Ain Sefra area of Algeria in the north but was noteworthy for being only the third time in forty years that the desert has had snow.

Cheshire has its own microclimate - it's all the tanning booths.

Bit odd with the weather at the moment. The massive block of high pressure to our east is too far east to be of any use to create cold. However, there are signs that there will be cold weather next week, but from a polar maritime source. Usually snow is confined to the hills. So for the rest of us it would be miserably cold rain.

Tentative signals for a sudden stratospheric warming in the future, so this could bring really cold weather to us - or as usual with this kind of event, it could sink south over Russia or N America!

Did a return trip from Pompey to Manchester yesterday in Mrs seefive’s white car. Yuk weather meant it looked like it had just finished a forest special stage when I saw it in daylight this morning!

But today in Pompey is bright and warm, so a bucket of Megs and hot water and all is fine again.
