Manchester, for example, used to get 20-30 days of snowfall per year in 1950 to 1990. Now, it averages 5-10 zero days at most.
You may well be correct for Manchester, though I believe my contribution to your post makes it more accurate.smile

Hopefully not. I remember Feb 1978 in Exeter, absolute fking chaos. Once in a lifetime was quite enough.
Waaaay before my time so I'm yet to witness such an event!
I was 40+ miles North East of Paul and was ten at the time. Fantastic amounts of snow, causing schools to shut and carnage on the roads (in terms of getting anywhere, not necessarily crashes). Had a mini-walloping of snow around 2008/2009 but nothing even getting close to 1978 again.

I miss it. frown

This was 2013 up the road from me. There was some really impressive snow and it lasted for days.

Loads of sheep and lambs died though so hopefully if anything similar happens the farmers will have had enough warning to get the pregnant ewes under cover.

That might have been 2010, the year I attempted to drive very deep south west on Christmas day.

You can all stand down. I've put a shovel in the boot of the car in case I need to dig it out at Gatwick on Wednesday, so that pretty much guarantees 0.1mm of sleet, max.

March record low temp is -22.6 celsius. Tonight's ECM charts are showing conditions that could approach that (snowfields, mountains, no wind...)

There are two ways to get to my house. This is one of them (photo - a screen grab from tonight's Scottish weather)

I'm using the other route.

He’s trying to melt it at the base with two litres of Irn Bru.

A good choice, a slice of pink grapefruit is my choice of garnish with that.

Thats one snow day sorted, what if we get a week of it? Rationing will return!

I'm going to need more than a few mm of snow to be able to work from home!

Back to horse whispering the snow, I daren't even dig my wellies out yet.
