Quite right - 5cm over 48 hours is not even slightly severe

Drumroll please! The first UK wide snow prediction map for a long, long, long time...

Note how the Chilterns prevent the M4 corridor getting as much snow as surrounding areas - grrr!

Not my work! Credit to UK Weather Live as per the graphic.

That's quite an upgrade in terms of snow from the forecasts I was looking at earlier today for that period.

This has human input - computerised charts will struggle with lake effect snow.

This is where it has snowed in Europe for the past 3 days... and where it may snow in the next 6 days... Looking like <10cm to the east coasts of England...

As Puggit hints, some of the latest charts are indicating most of the UK will get absolutely walloped next week. Perhaps 20-30cm due around the Midlands...
Charts all over the place, for the next 1 to 10 days, at the moment.

Cold = yes.
Sunny = yes.
Snow = maybe.
The whole of the east coast, from Kent to Aberdeen, could get 10-30cm next week...

Sure, I'm slap bang in the middle of the dark patch running through the spine of the country and will be travelling south from Leeds to Essex on Monday afternoon.

Hiking boots and my snow gear will be packed in the boot, sounds daft but better safe than sorry. (although I'd rather just cancel my week and work from my study or as some would call it the cupboard under the stairs)

Just walked the dog, it is properly bloody cold, strange lack of frost though, sort of different feel to the usual.

Port Solent. As mentioned earlier, we don’t get snow very often.

Current forecast, bit of a dusting for 3 hours on Wednesday, starts properly at 8pm Thursday, finishes sometime midnight Sunday/Monday with a few hours off during the day on Sunday. However, it is light snow all the way, so probably won’t accumulate much even though it is over 2 days of the white ste forecast.

Ahh but that is a myth my friend. Manchester is not the worst for rain , apparently all this came about because of a few years of rained off cricket!

It's just we are surrounded by snow attracting land that means there is nowt left for us frown
