So when will it be over?
Ummm - remember when I compared it to 2010, 91 and 87, but said it would be more like 63 or 47 if it had happened earlier in the season?

This pattern is locked in and extremely hard to shift. The jet stream will get an assistance to reboot from the warmer sun, but currently it has no plans to start up. It is shut off..
The forecasts I've looked at show the daytime temperatures starting to increase around March 5th

Yes, the GFS model, which many of the apps/websites use for automated forecasts, likes to give the Atlantic more strength then it has. Not saying it's wrong, but more often than not it doesn't model the strength of the cold pool pushing back the Atlantic well.

Ah ok, thanks. I was looking at the 10 day Netweather forecast, which seemed more pessimistic than the BBC or Met Office. I'm in Mid Devon and we don't usually get a lot of snow. Even the 1978 blizzard had melted after a week or so.

Local BBC weatherman Ian Fergusson has tweeted ....

W COUNTRY Yellow warnings for #snow now issued re Tues-Weds by @metoffice. Please keep across forecasts as detail gets honed. We are also watching for potential developments by/into Friday that *may* threaten significant snow for the region, but continued uncertainty at present.

I reckon this may just happen, you know. Fingers crossed.
Yep it looks like it’s pretty certain to cause some disruption now. I’m reconsidering buying a cheap old 4wd to get to me to work over the next 10 days.

So Puggit should I buy myself an X Trail for a couple of weeks? (I live between Soton and Pompey)

Clear blue skies and lovely sunny day here in MK. Bitterly cold though.

Forecast for next week is showing some seriously cold days and snow showers Tues and Wed and full on snow Friday

My iPhone app (which admittly I don't trust at all) now has snow from next Wednesday through to the following Monday in Plymouth. Plymouth!!

Me thinks someone's heading their bets.

Drumroll please! The first UK wide snow prediction map for a long, long, long time...

Note how the Chilterns prevent the M4 corridor getting as much snow as surrounding areas - grrr!

Not my work! Credit to UK Weather Live as per the graphic.

Quite interesting seeing the forecast for the Colchester area changing every couple of hours on Netweather, both for Monday/Tuesday and later in the week. Checked it for Cambridge and there's not much predicted there so might have to send my boss some photos if we get heavy snow to prove I'm not joking.

Remember- most of next week's snow is due to showers. Will be random distribution and strength.

Friday may be a bit more binary though - all or nothing, maybe?

Friday is very much all or nothing if you're in the South.

So no snow south of London until Friday? Suits me as I have a bloody busy week I could really do without being interrupted!

After being out in a lovely summer day today, I'm starting to think this storm may not happen!
