I'm supposed to be driving to Falmouth from Hertfordshire one day this week, shall I put the job off?
Nope - just be prepared and keep an eye on events live.

I'd aim for Mon-Weds, if given a choice

BBC being very cautious atm only showing slight snow showers for Tuesday same for Thursday/Friday/Saturday for me in south wales. If this does happen are we talking 2010/2013 levels of snow fall or greater.

For us in the South, it’s very marginal. If the low pushes up and stalls, it could be biblical snowfall amounts. If it carries on through and moves further north, it will be a snow to rain event. In which case, it’ll snow hard and then piss down with rain.

At this stage, absolutely no-one has a clue what will happen, as there are so few data points to model the setup we are entering into this evening

So guessing Wednesday/Thursday have more of an idea. Be interesting too see how many customers move their appointment forward with us to avoid the snow already had one on Saturday.
Think the heater will be on in the workshop next week though.

Can someone summarise the next few days please, near the south coast. Originally saw snow for Monday evening and all day Tuesday. Is that not happening any more?

There seems to be a disconnect between the 5/10 day forecasts and the video forecast. At the moment my 5/10 day forecast is showing a slight possibility of light snow showers. Watch the video and the weather warnings and Armageddon is on its way!
I’m in the midlands.

BBC weather has just said snow showers possible up until friday for Kent, with thursday looking likely to be the heaviest.Temps on friday milder and sunday predicted to be 10c so whatever falls wont last long..

Countryfile on now and i have found their week ahead forecast to be reliable...

Schmalex mentioned above that there just aren't enough records of this kind of event for anyone to be able to make an accurate guess. So it seems to be mostly down to opinion and hedging one's bets.

Winds from the E/NE bringing snow showers in off the North Sea. Eastern counties to carry the brunt. Kent/Lincs in particular.

Thurs-Sat sees snow from the South with a low pressure system. Met Office have *already* put out a warning for this.

The smart money is now on the cold pool keeping the low away to the west. Ireland carrying the brunt, and Wales for the UK. Currently 25 inches of snow modelled for the mountains south of Dublin (that's 2 foot/60cm).

How is this for snow...? Snow depth chart for 3rd March.

All very hesitant though for Thurs-Sat.

Broadly speaking, it will be:

Monday: Cold and clear
Tuesday: Cold with possible snow showers from the East, but not too much to write home about
Wednesday: Cold
Thursday: Very unclear
Friday: Very unclear

There is a lot of confusion in the charts, as there are two pressures that are moving around N France / S England.

Potentially, Thursday could see very heavy snow, followed by a clearer spell and then further snow showers in to Friday. However, equally possible is snow to rain or just heavy sleet.

Sorry I can’t be of more assistance, but there is very little agreement between any of the models and anything would be a guess, other than there is a low pressure with slightly milder air passing East to West somewhere along the Channel

I’m looking forward to seeing how this pans out.

The models and people who do this properly must have a headache by now trying to figure this out.

I won’t pretend to understand all the models but I do appreciate those who do, and take the time to explain to us dummies. hehe
