I was listening to Today this morning and they were interviewing snowboarders.

One of them said the immortal words...

“It’s been a sport a long time. It started in the late 1900’s.”

I feel old now!
Thank goodness it wasn't just me.
At first I thought she meant around 1909 and then it dawned on me that for many youngsters the 1900s must seem like a lifetime ago.
Just to quickly revisit this, James Bond used a snowboard* in the opening sequence of A View To A Kill back in 1985.
Even then it was relatively new (007 always likes to incorporate new stuff) but some of the moves still form the core of the today's sport - apart from the sitting down in the middle of the piste, of course.

*It was actually the front ski of an ancient snowmobile, but he went down the hill to the tunes of the Beach Boys so all is good.

^^^^^ Wrong thread again!

Blimey! You young 'uns were spoiled rotten in the 80's! rolleyes

In the early 50's, not many people had those new-fangled televisions.
We had to go to Grandma's to watch hers, and the only tasty females we got to see were Looby Lou, and Annette Mills with "Muffin the Mule".

I have no idea whether or not it is illegal these days, but it kept us entertained.

We had a Commodore PET 32k at work and were allowed to play games on it at lunchtimes. Space Invaders was on a cassette tape and took about 10 minutes to load. We thought it was the bee's knees back then. The best-looking PC ever IMHO.

Had a 'discussion' with my wife at the weekend about 'The Herbs'. I was trying to remember the individual herbs' introductory songs and remembered 'I'm a very friendly lion called Parsley', 'I'm Dill the dog', and 'I'm Bayleaf the gardener'.
Anyone remember any others?
Did Richard Briers do the narration, in my deep and distant memory it sounds like his voice.?

The Chives, Sage the Owl, there was an old lady, Madame something. Damm, I'm going to have to Google it now.

Thanks, I remember most of the characters, but only remember three of their songs. As I remember it, as each character appeared for the first time, they would sing a little song to introduce themself.

When you were born in the mid-1900s, it’s a bit sobering.
My boys delight in pointing out to me that not only was I born in the nineteen hundreds, but at 1949, the first half of the nineteen hundreds.
I'm so much younger that you, as I was born in the second half of the last century. But still during the reign of the last monarch.

So during the last King's final two year's reign then? scratchchin

I'll bet it was what made the noise in the first place!

Was Hectors House around the same vintage?

Ah yes 'Spangles'. I remember those very clearly- there were some darker ones too if memory serves. I reckon I could still open one one-handed and pop it in - all done in one fluid movement!

My mum had one of those, it included a spray gun. I resprayed a Ford Anglia with it, and it came out surprisingly well!
