Got the same one in my house and still in full working order. The house was built early 80's so must have been installed around that time.!

Analogue satellite Amstrad anyone ?

Want something less mass market get a Pace:

Or if like me you were a bit of a snob and wanted something more upmarket how about an NEC 3022:

But whatever you chose if you wanted to watch proper channels you needed a videocrypt decoder:and sky card !

If you were unlucky you chose BSB and got a squarial and maybe a Philips receiver (I did as I fancied both systems - oh dear)

All stock images
I saw an analogue frequency extender that was required for the old sky boxes at the car boot sale last week.
When the decoder came out I drove over 50 miles and paid £25 for a 50cm scart cable as they were hard to get hold of and that was not even RGB.

Talking about analogue Sky does anyone remember Season ripoff cards?

[small[I may have talked about this before as my memory is going[/small]

Talking of which, my first 8 track - 1985. The tapes were stupidly expensive.

Bought it off Ade Edmondson [/name drop]
Nice!

I can still remember buying mine and getting it home. Huge thing. And the first time it 'shuffled' to get to 0000 - I thought that was so cool.

I sold mine to Go West! Remember them?

The correct tape for the ReVox A77 was very expensive too, but I discovered that it was (I think) an Agfa grade that was readily available at a lower price than the ReVox branded stuff. A little camera shop in Alperton used to sell wiped ex-BBC 5" open reel tapes very cheaply and these were the correct grade. Obviously, since the BBC had bank of Studer machines (parent company of ReVox) it was unsurprising. A recording studio in Paddington sold me dozens of empty 10" reels so I could wind the tapes on to these with the aid of a good splicer. I still have some 5" reels awaiting loading...

Good call! There's a vine in my neighbour's back garden and it hangs dozens of bunches of 'seedy' red grapes over my side. Just eating a few took me back to the days of seedy grapes from the greengrocer.

Back onto old TV tech - I remember us getting our first video recorder back in about 1978 which was pretty early for a domestic machine - it was a rented thing and was one of the Ferguson badged piano key jobbies with the tape loaded in the top, no remote. It arrived on a Saturday and I remember the first thing we recorded was a bit of World of Sport wrestling with Rollerball Rocco.

This was followed by what was in the day a very flash VCR, a Ferguson 3V23 which had a remote control out of Star Trek, it had something like 8 programs, it could go forwards and backwards and slow mo etc etc and looked really cool. My dad actually bought this one and I remember going to get it with him, one of these amazing import companies down some back street in Manchester that you don't see any more. I remember it being very expensive - something like 700 quid.

Greengrocers spinning brown paper bags round in their fingers to close them round veg still with dirt on, butchers wrapping meat in brown paper parcels, and buying cooking fat too from him by the pound, wrapped in paper, fishmongers wrapping wet fish in newspaper that dripped down your legs as you carried it home. The sweet shop that carefully weighed out a quarter ounce into a twist of paper then _always_ added one more sweet for luck.

May be had from Lidl of all places. Big fat red grapes, covered in that bluish/grey bloom and gert big seeds to chew.
Far nicer than those nasty, bland, seedless pretenders.
