Believe me despite my matalon boots, you really don't want to see some of the things my colleagues wear... think Jesus sandals with white socks (yes really) toe post flip flops and so on.techguyone said:

i don't think they look bad at all, but with a suit??
How about looking this this? any better?I think they’re the kind of leather that’s supposed to have that dull finish in the original photo.
You can darken and moisturise them with saddle soap etc but theyll soon return to the original finish.
It’s possibly quite an aggressive fashion choice to wear those with a suit.

I'd have been happy to leave them as original but... you'd look at them and they'd mark, and not in a good way, making them shiny was the better solution.
I don't know what they did to make the original finish, and it looked fine and each pair of boots was uniquely patterned but, but it just marked at the slightest touch for some reason. I also like a good shine and these come up nice with polish.

the nature of this thread is really 50% shoes, 50% pisstaking. It is quite robust, but not personal.
Nice attempted justification. The nature of the thread should be 90% shoes, 10% gentle teasing about socks, trousers, carpets and so on. Sadly, the usual self-important blow-hards take it beyond useful into the tt-ish. As per.
As a consequence, it's hardly a welcoming thread to someone who ... I don't know ... maybe just wants to post a picture of their new shoes or something. Probably goes a long way to explaining why the thread has lost its mojo and is a sad reflection of its former self.
To be honest I thought the thread has lost its way a bit, but that felt to me because there was too much shoe content and not enough pisstaking.
Maybe you should create a serious shoe thread, photos only, no chat, if you dislike the way this one is going.

Anyone had any RM Williams boots and any thoughts on them?
Yep. I have five pairs. My preference is the dynamic flex sole although I do have a pair of classic craftsman.I wear them pretty much every day including with a suit.
They are the most comfortable and hard wearing footwear I have ever had. Getting pricey in the UK now but I usually buy them when I'm in Australia. Worthwhile getting them properly fitted first time around.

I didn't think those shoes could get much worse, but I had never considered that you would pair them with a pair of bootcut jeans that would have looked dated in 1995. Blown2CV said:
Well, not for me. They fit OK, they just barely bent at all during use, and where they did bend they forced a sharp bar crease into my foot. I wore them maybe 10 times and no sign of letting up. Actually drew blood. I reckon wearing clogs would be more comfortable.
Had the same with a pair of Loakes (Shoemaker range). Wore thicker socks while breaking them in as they'd dig into my ankle. One morning they fitted perfectly and they are to date my most comfortable pair of 'proper' shoes.WinstonWolf said:
