The darker ones for me.
Me too. More use-able I'd have thought.
Both look v nice. cool

If the fit is absolutely spot on, I'd be tempted to keep both colours tbh. If you have to choose one, I agree that the darker brown is probably the one to go for.
Thanks for the opinions all. I came to the same conclusion and decided to keep the dark brown ones. Although was very tempting to keep both pairs the tan ones had a couple of minor defects (they weren't seconds so would have had to return them anyway) and I have a number of tan shoes already including C&J tan scotch grain, but no dark brown.

A pic after their maiden voyage, I had the overnight bag lying around from a recent trip and thought they made a nice pair smile

Cross lacing offers a more even distribution of pressure over the eyelets, which is more important with open laced shoes such as Derbys.

Of course the aesthetic is also worth considering and cross lacing also differentiates nicely from the more formal straight lacing favoured by smarter shoes such as Oxfords.
Interesting, I'll try relacing the boots and see how they look.

First time wearing tassel loafers, went down well tbh.
What do you do for work? I'm guessing it's some sort of office work or airline hospitality?

I think he's involved in some kind of specialist hospitality industry involving uncomfortably intimate procedures inflicted on you by well educated strangers. the shoes tend to help soften the mood a bit.

Something like that. biggrin

Though my daily shoes are more of the brown brogue variety.

Hah, I was handling some of those yesterday. I found myself in Stamford on business and there is a shoe shop in the town that sells Loake seconds. I think the Strands were £150 or there abouts. Nice looking shoes.

Big fan of the C&J coniston above

I ordered 3 pairs of shoes, 2 of which have already arrived

Loake 'Demon' in burgundy, just the design range I think and I'm not a fan... going back

Loake 'Aldwych' in mahogany, 1880 range and I was quite shocked by the quality, channeled welt stitching sitting proud in multiple areas (see pic) - going back

And bargain of the century, some Tricker's Regent in beechnut for £145..should be here later in the week.

Seems my fascination for boots continue, these where a bargain in the Grenson Sale.
Leander in Colorado Leather /Dark Brown
Some hefty discounts to be had on there!

They arrived next day as well, they are not quite as shiny as in the picture here.

I just bought a pair of these, the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever bought.

There were an unbelievable amount of tourists in London today when I thought it would be quiet.

Don't you worry that everyone in the care home will be wearing these though?
