Discussion
Picked up these (Tiverton) from Cheaney's in Jermyn St. yesterday.
They were the only pair on Jermyn St. that didn't have toe caps (don't want on this style) or worse (for this style IMO) broguing.
(Stock photo)
As the sales guy was putting them in the box, he mentioned their complimentary polishing service; "... bring them in any time you like". So of course I said "How about now? I can collect them later."
I've noticed that they keep their display shoes in a pretty high level of polish so why not?
They did a good job of giving heels and toes a nice initial mirror shine (using neutral wax at my request).
I will give the remainder of the uppers a once over with wax and then treat the soles with gun stock oil before wearing.

Seems my fascination for boots continue, these where a bargain in the Grenson Sale.
Leander in Colorado Leather /Dark Brown
Some hefty discounts to be had on there!
They arrived next day as well, they are not quite as shiny as in the picture here.

Initially I thought they had a whiff of Victorian prostitute about them but after googling pictures of Victorian prostitues I've decided they don’t.
They’d look good with narrow trousers.

One of the best replies I've read on this thread tbh. Initially I thought they had a whiff of Victorian prostitute about them but after googling pictures of Victorian prostitues I've decided they don’t.

BARKER Boots
Realised I couldn't stomach the £450 for some C&J Coniston, so these are Barker Lambourn, scotch grain cedar, that I picked up half price, so £160. Mighty fine boot.
Look great and sounds like excellent value.BARKER Boots

They were from the popular place beginning with H, but I believe I got literally the last pair hence price.
As far as I can tell, Barker have discontinued.
Ah, I found them somewhere else for the same price but not in my size.As far as I can tell, Barker have discontinued.
Lovely boot but taking a while to work in!

Those Barkers are lovely! Tricky to clean?
I'm after a pair of brogue boots with a commando sole around the £250 mark, any suggestions?

I've the Bedale in dark brown and very pleased with them - but they're all G fitting so maybe that doesn't suit. Also impressed with my Wharfedales but they're Dainite soled rather than Commando, and, again, G fitting.

I have a pair which have just come back from Loake for re-sole and heel. They did a great job and look fully refreshedTrouble is, I've NEVER got a pair repaired, just keep buying new. Wearing Herring Kendal right now that are appraching a re-sole so, of course, I'm awating delivery of a new pair of Loake 1880 Badminton in dark brown grain.
Still, now that I've sickened myself with 80s/90s Mercs it's my only remaining vice, and a lot cheaper.
But I'm determined that the Kendals are going back for refurb, just to see how they come back.
Anyone know what Herring charge? Are Loake still £80?

Thanks. Only delivered a couple of days ago. I see them as a spring/summer shoe so hopefully shouldn't get too dirty.Baron von Teuchter said:

At that price point, I suspect Loake would be the way to go.Seems quite a few options on the Loake site (though not proper commando soles).
Tricker's do fantastic brogue boots (with commando soles) but are £400+
