Lordgrover those are just horrible shoes.

Why don’t we all agree to delete the quotes and you throw them out and we’ll all pretend this never happened.

Do you still like music and beautiful women and singing? Can you still smile or get an erection?

Those shoes are so sad, they symbolise the slow ebbing of your human spirit. It’s like watching an old ship rust away or a once great building fall into disrepair and become a squat for druggies and rank old dirty prostitutes.

They are utterly utterly miserable.

Genuinely beautiful summary.

1. They're not pretty - conceded
2. I have a thick skin
3a. Never been a music person. However, my passion for beautiful women has not diminished. 3b. Yes and YES
4. Eloquent, but inapposite
5. ... comfy though

I had to wear medical shoes for a year or two when I was young. They looked remarkably like those monstrosities.

And there it is... "medical shoes"!

I've cleaned my wife's Dubarry boots and used the Dubarry leather cream. But is has left white residue in the creases and they look rubbish. I have previously used a soft brush to get it out, but it polishes them - which is not the original appearance.

Any ideas chaps please?
Okay, the answer, if anyone finds themselves in a similar position, is a hairdryer. I heated the areas with white residue and it melted like the snow (presumably absorbed).

I didn't think of that for shoe cream, but I do use a hairdryer occasionally to soften up a glacage that has begun to show cracking, or to simply remove old polish,

I've bought and sent back so many pairs of shoes recently trying to get a dainite soled daily wearer at a palatable price point, thankfully finally something I like and that fits - Berwick 1707 derby wingtip scotch grain:

Bought from AFPOS, 10% off offer made them £148, including a free Saphir Medaille D'Or in an appropriate colour and lasted cedar shoe trees

Quite nice with the more casual chinos and button down look I've been adopting in the office recently. In my view these are a bargain, even at full price (£165), they seem much better made than the few pairs of Loake 1808's that have passed through my hands (briefly) recently

G H Bass Weejuns Penny Loafer. On one hand, I like them. On the other hand,I am not sure I have the wardrobe for them and my girlfriend hates them. Not sure if they'll be kept...

Herring Shoes Rackenford Oxford. Calf leather, Goodyear welted soles. Very nice if a little narrow.

Nice oxfords, don’t wear your penny loafers with those pyjamas though

Shoes, trousers, carpet. One of these usually gets a roasting.

I was going to point out that he had displayed them on the back of his cat, but the pyjamas seemed easier.

Invisible socks were on.

They're going back, gonna get something more versatile. Derbys maybe.

Anyone have any suggestions for a decent shoe in the £100ish or less range that will suit both smart casual (wool trousers / chinos) and more casual (dark jeans)? Thinking a chunky derby?

I'm looking for a pair of zipped boots in brown. Preferably pointier (or chisel toed) than most on here, no, or minimal broguing and with a bit of 'style'. By which I mean toward the Jeffery West end rather than the Jacob Rees Mogg end.

JW don't have anything I fancy. Jo Ghost close but no cigar. Any others I should be looking for?
