Aren't Hunters a bit st themselves nowadays?

I had a pair of Hunters that were 35 years old and still waterproof but with a broken side strap, so I bought a new pair. They looked the same but lasted 18 months or so.
I've heard that also from by BIL who has always had Hunters. Made in China now iirc. He said he won't bother buying another pair.

I got Dunlop wellies for a tenner. Use them almost daily for dog walking, never had an issue.

A proper wellie. No one has need for anything else. Shooting, farming or going into the City.

I like my dunlops, not quite good enough for a hike though.

I purchased these a couple of months ago for winter use. Really impressed, comfortable from day 1, waterproof and stylish. A true all-rounder I can wear anywhere.

yes

Black, so you can wear with navy suit. Practical thinking.

Popped into the local TK Maxx on the offchance and ended up with these:

£79 (seconds, nothing noticeable on them) so happy with them for work. Only trouble is the right one is a fraction tight round the toes so I could do with suggestions on how to squeeze them ever so slightly please?

Shoe trees? Do I need to spend much on them?
Spray?
Hair dryer?

thanks

My last two pairs of wellies were Hunter's and the best I got out of them was 5 months-other pair was 3 months, that's walking a lab for 25 mins morning and night.

Utter, utter st.

Dunlops are good for concreting and stuff but they don't stand up so you can't walk into them. You want good wellies, go into a gun/hunting shop and buy some neoprene uppers ones from whoever they recommend.

Also, Oliver Sweeney have their mid-season sale on, still the best goodyear welted shoes and boots at present for me.

Nice.

Your local shoe repair place should have a shoe stretcher thingy. They will ease them out on the machine for a few quid. More effective than anything I've tried at home.

Use a Broom handle, brace it and work it, warms and eases the leather.

Any tips as to how to get scuffs out of light leather? I don't really want to use a dark polish and impact the colour. I have used a lighter polish but scuffs are still there.

I am not saying this will work necessarily, but my wife had some patent shoes with scuffs. As a "kill or cure" solution I rubbed them down with WD40. The scuffs have gone, largely.

Until quite recently I considered them pensioner shoes. However they had a pair of trainers in the exact colour I wanted last year so I bought them. I have bought another pair this year in a different colour.

Whilst I think Jeremy Corbyn probably favours their shoes, some of them don't have the whiff of oldie about them and they seem well made.

I'm definitely not attacking my tan Trickers with WD40 laugh

Anyone for a pair of Church's brogues for £299: https://www.tkmaxx.com/men/shoes/shoes/brown-leath...

Or white Trickers yikes : https://www.tkmaxx.com/men/edits/big-brand-deliver...

Don't rule it out, it's brilliant stuff. You can even dress salad with it if you've run out of olive oil - and it has fewer calories.

They had Church brogues in my local store last week (bought the Loakes 1880 for £79, see above) - they were on the extra sale shelf, clearance and £135. They were a size too big for me sadly.
