Now these are going to divide opinion: I like them, none of you will.

That said, this pair are not of the quality I would prefer and if their replacements are no better my hunt for a good spectator continues.

The size 10 arrived today and, as feared. they fit where they touch. So my dreams of becoming a 1920s American cad will have to go on hold.
Have you had time to contact N&L or C&J regarding theirs?
Fosters are another option, but I should imagine they will be even pricier than C&J made to order.
All assuming any of them offer that style on a last that suits your feet.
N&L have a 10. But they sold a 9.5 and my experience is that if a maker makes a 9.5 the 10 will be too large.

C&J will do me a MTO of these for £700 https://www.crockettandjones.com/gerrard-4-mahogan...

Considering the general level of teasing that goes on here I'm rather surprised that you two have got off so lightly with these shockers. I've never seen Peaky Blinders but I thought it was a TV show rather than fashion advice.

I think the hush is the consensus of awe at how truly stylish we are.

There’s a consensus that’s for sure.

They are called spectator shoes because it's wiser just to look at them than wear them.
Your tastes are improving Mr So biggrin

Actually, I was searching to find the link to these.
Here's a new link for you: SPECTATOR - BROWN + WHITE - LOUVRE

There's no point in becoming older if you don't become more stylish.

I am not sure about the Cobblers Union ones. I see Grenson has some, but they are white suede uppers... what could go wrong?

1. Or not giving a damn about what others think smile

2. I think you have spotted the obvious issue with the suede / canvas sections.
The white leather, on mine at least, is easy to care for.
After each outing; dust off with a soft shoe brush. If there are any signs of actual dirt remaining a gentle scrubbing with a soft tooth brush and mild soap cleans it up.

I'll keep looking. I am not sure the C&J ones are the right shape for me and £700 is a lot for their bog standard range.

And a lack of shoe trees.
We've probably all been there. No one told us, or it looked unnecessary or pretentious...
Charles Tyrwhitt sells decent shoe trees for not a lot of money.
If not for these poor buggers, then for the next unfortunates in your collection perhaps smile

personally i'd not put my shoes which have been outside on the ground walking through all sorts on top of the table or on my work, but that's just me.

Edward Green has offered to make me some of these for £1240. It will take 3 months.

I think I will wait until a decent maker decides to make a batch. They won't be...er.... everyday wear.

Though to be fair the EGs I do have are superb and my best pair of shoes.

You will need a trilby and a trench coat to pull off the Goaty Bill look hehe

Go for it. I love the idea of everyone you wear them in front of pissing themselves laughing, and then keeling over unable to breathe with laughter when you tell them how much you paid for them.

I mean what would you even wear them with? Dad jeans? A work suit? Fancy dress?

Formal trousers, 7.5 inch bottoms and a turn up.

I don’t think I have ever had anyone laugh at my shoes since primary school and I’ve had some esoteric footwear. Nor has anyone asked me how much my shoes cost. Probably because they had no interest in buying a pair, but there you go.

I have been wearing mine regularly for 3 years and have never had any such reaction; quite the opposite has been the reality in fact.

I have worn mine with a navy and pink pinstripe suit, traditional high waisted brown wool trousers and jacket or high waisted light tan cotton trousers and searsucker jackets in the summer.
They are far more flexible than one might initially imagine, though I have never considered wearing them with jeans.
Principally because I don't think that would work very well and partly because I don't own a pair of jeans. (well I might, but I haven't seen them in 10 years if I do)

@craigjm (hat noob) I wear fedoras, not trilbies.
