Just needs a spinning bow tie and a big squirty flower to complete the look
Ahh you have met him too! Thought you would come to PH shoes and take it out on someone...
Many thanks for the suggestions rsbmw.
I have bow ties aplenty (though sadly none of them spin).
The squirty flower is an excellent idea however; wear a rain mac craigjm
PS it won't be water

If you need to empty your bag that’s not the best way of doing it PS it won't be water

I’m a fan of Merrell but not bought for around 6 years.
Is the quality still up there?
I've two dog walking pairs, boots for winter, shoes for summer, 30-40 miles per week. I replace one pair every 12 months or so. Is the quality still up there?
So I'm happy enough, they're always comfortable straight from the box too.

question: are doc martens comfortable? how do they compare in this regard, and also longevity, in comparison to a mid level northampton maker - grenson, cheaney etc.
Yes, very. However, they don't tend to breathe that easily and can make your feet uber sweaty. Eventually the air soles will wear down, puncture and then 'deflate' at which point the comfort goes out of the window. The soles are somewhat unsubtle and render the footwear rather inelegant. Depending on use i.e. daily wear and amount of walking you can, IME, get between two and five year use out of them. Cheaneys and Grensons etc. will need resoling every two years or so.shirt said:

The main problem is that they do not have any structure (a shank) in the sole. This could make your feet very tired if you are stood up for a long time. Overall, a nice pair of Cheaney or Barkers would be much kinder on your feet, but they are more expensive. One tip though, the Doc Martin commando sole is absolutely amazing in the ice and snow. Way better than the black commando soles you find on Cheaney etc. I think its the softer rubber compound that makes the difference.
