An easy gag, albeit lazy searching, which ends with a picture of a div in a polyester stag night outfit wearing a pair of cheap black slip-ons worthy of thread derision as far as I can see (although disappointingly carpet and skirting board free).

The suede boots look good to me, and I wear mine a lot. Blue is a versatile colour in general as long as you don't 'over-blue' it, with a blue suit for example.

Nice to see something less boringly normal posted TBH.

Nice Chelsea boots thumbup

I have a pair of navy Timberlands, not their usual winter boot style things, but they're often worn with blue jeans or beige chinos smile

it's a fake site but not a bad quality one... the only giveaways are the stupidly low prices and the no-SSL certificate.

Tan chinos would go well with them. As would a number of other colours, I'm sure. Obviously, jeans and suit trousers are not going to work with them.

Congrats on your purchases. You'll need to buy a blue (suede) belt to match.

My first foray into 'proper' shoes happened yesterday with the purchase if these:

I might have to order the belt to match!

If these are "proper" shoes, what were you wearing previously?

I normally live in tan Clarkes Chelsea boots or a couple of pairs of suede brogues (one blue / one brown) from Dune. Typically I normally wear a pair out and buy some new ones.

Hoping these Barkers will keep me going for many years to come (as long as I look after them)

Quality-wise they might. But they are a fashion shoe; the contrasting sole and toe spring may not stand the test of time so well.

Are Barker's meant to be a bit stiff and do they loosen up with wear ?

I don't know. I have one pair and they were supple from new.

This is the salesman's way of telling you that you have small feet hehe

I like those. My first pair of Goodyear welted shoes were Barkers and they are still going strong.

Barker and Loake are definitely the gateway shoe. Remember to check out Crockett & Jones, Trickers, Gaziano & Girling, John Lobb. etc.
