Ok, Tesla, Da Vinci, Einstein and Alan Carr. HAPPY NOW?
Swap Einstein for Jamie Oliver and I think we're getting close to a good meet and greet group.
Right, so this is the new dream team:

Jamie Oliver, Alan Carr, Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne and Jas from Babylon Zoo.

mother Theresa,
You can fk right off with that suggestion. A complete fraud.
You beat me too it. Held up by the Catholic church as a saint when the reality is she was a grasping old crone whose actual 'help' was negliable and who would happily cosy up to dictators and despots for cash, of which many millions are unaccounted for after her death.

Also known to fly to America for private treatment for her own aliments. A coniving, hypocritical witch – and her real name wasn't even Theresa.

My suggestion would either be Babbage, Turing, Brunel, Thomas Paine. Or Andi Peters.

Richard Feynman. Intelligent and can also play the bongos.
Good shout (which means I was going to say the same). He could also tell the aliens about Tuvan throat whistling. Danger is he might try to knob their wives.

Meeting with an Alien race, hmmm.

Personally I think it be best not to be seen as intelligent or have significant leadership quantities, I wouldn't want to Alien race to see us as a threat in case they have those death ray guns.

Therefore I vote Noel Edmunds, after 5 mins the aliens will be confused and will zoom off pissing themselves laughing at the supposed best of the human race. We can then continue without threat biggrin

I have a lot of time for Schwarzenegger. He's a very hard worker, as you say, but is also proud to tell people about how much help he's received along the way and he does shine a light on the people who would normally go on unthanked in the shadows. I don't necessarily agree with all of his politics but I don't doubt that his intentions are good. I firmly believe he's a genuinely nice person with genuinely good intentions and he's an excellent role model.

His Twitter responses to Trump are also worth the time smile

I think this is challenging one to ask ... and I dont think there is one answer

I think you could have most or best:

influential
leader
etc...

but they would also need to be further cut down to their generation.

I dont think for example Winston Churchill, Nikola Tesla, Steve Jobs, Muhatma Ghandi, Mother Theresa, Henry Ford, Cornelius Vanderbilt, John Pierpont Morgan could all be considered together

I was going to post Tesla, Da Vinci and Einstein.
Would aliens want to meet a group of geeky tech heads? After their journey they might want to have some frivolous fun - or just a good meal.
The aliens might find them all delicious! yum

Chris Harris?

For the record, both Jesus and Mohammed were historical figures. Whether Jesus was the Son of God and/or Mohammed a prophet is open to debate.
Who cares? I bet neither one of them could powerslide an M5 around Anglessey Circuit.

Harris for the win.

Second thoughts, given that the First Contact aliens would be the equivalent of Star Trek's red shirt ratings, is there a need to send anyone super intelligent or a good cook?

It can't be a Brit. The EU won't let us negotiate separately with any foreigners pre-Brexit.

After that, I suppose it really ought to be the Foreign Secretary ...
