It’s either

a) a massive conspiracy against you by the evil online retailer, or

b) you didn’t actually cancel

What do you reckon Mick?

Maybe they are in league with your utility suppliers.

Why do you reckon this stuff happens to you? I am going with the global conspiracy angle.

It doesn't just happen to me I'd wager it happens to most people but they are too thick to notice it. I'm one of the few who can actually understand consumer bills, I do spread sheets for things like this and know more about what I should be charged than the suppliers themselves.

Amazon Prime yearly was 100% cancelled, I got the email and £79 has been credited back to my bank account, the email saying I had signed to prime monthly came through at 7PM last night whilst I was sat in the pub with a friend and had been for a couple of hours previously, my phone had remained in my back pocket all evening.

So back to you, how did it happen.

Edit to add : if I hadn't actually cancelled then I wouldn't be able to re-sign would I?

Just sent an email to Amazon regarding this and now +35312478199 keeps ringing my phone, when I answered it was a recorded message saying "welcome to Amazon" as if I had rung them - cheeky feckers.

6 missed calls in 2 minutes.

You emailed Amazon to complain, they tried to call you back, and you're complaining they tried to call you? confused

If I wanted to speak to someone I would have called them. I didn't even need to speak to anyone, I told them in the email not to use my money as if it were there own. What annoyed me was they rang me and I was greeted with an automated voice and was put on hold, so I put the phone down. They then repeatedly called back, 2 messages were left which started press 1 for....

Whilst I get your frustration it really is easy to communicate with amazon, I’m quite confused as to how you’ve made it difficult?

I had a problem with an extension lead yesterday that I purchased from amazon, it asked me if I wanted to call, web chat or email. 2 minutes on webchat problem solved with them offering an exchange.

I imagine it’s exactly the same for cancelling or a refund (they did offer me a refund) however if I received a rude email I’d probably make it a bit more difficult to leave wink

Maybe they need to confirm something? By calling you back they’re saving your phone bill. Seems a good idea to me?

You complained, they've tried to sort it out by calling you i.e. it won't cost you anything.

Seems like decent customer service to me.

There's an easy way and a hard way and some people always choose the hard way.

You're spending more time moaning about it on here than it would take to sort it out.

Some people are better suited to the high street.

Best of luck.

Not at all, I'm all for online shopping just not getting had over whilst doing it. I ordered something off Ebay on Wednesday and it was through my letter box when I got in on Friday, didn't have to pay Ebay anything extra for that, quicker than some Prime deliveries that cost £79 a year.

So just talk to them.

Vendors make mistakes, you contacted them about it, they're trying to fix it.

Either way you're making something very simple into something more difficult than it need be.

You do know I've cancelled it again via the web page and had the email saying as its not been used they will refund the £7.99, so I've already got the money back, or will have imminently - twice now. The whole idea of online shopping is so I don't have to wast time speaking to commoners, especially not Jiminy Cricket

Yes because you said.

The whole idea of online shopping is greater choice and reduced prices and in return an acceptance that it isn't always as simple as being able to march into a store giving it the "don't use my money as if it were your own" routine that doesn't get you as far as you may think it does.

If you're courteous to people they will usually do more to help you.

Try calling them Jiminy Cricket when you get to speak to someone. See how far that st gets you.

After them point blank lying to me on Tuesday and the item not arriving I cancelled the order, I contacted them via chat last night to check that I had been refunded, It hadnt at that point but they put it through immediately and I got an email confirming the refund at 6am today

Turns out it was a fire stick that I gave to someone about 2 years ago, they have never re-registered it with their own account and have been using it with my prime subscription all this time. It automatically set up Prime again when they tried to watch a film last night. How did that happen without my password, which the definitely don't know.

Amazon push prime heavily, because once they know someone has coughed up £80, they will have the incentive to keep using Amazon as their 1st choice for shopping. It works very well for them.
Not only that, but it’s a huge money spinner for them too. When your items (as a seller) are in the Fulfilled by Amazon warehouse and you sell something with Prime delivery, guess who pays the cost of delivery (hint: not Amazon!)

rofl so it was your own doing.

The amazon equipment is automatically registered to your account when purchased to make it work out the box. You can deactivate amazon products like fire sticks and echos from your account.

Yes I get that too but whenever I want to make a change to my account it asks for my password, actually most times I sign in now it asks for the passowrd and there is also a PIN for paid movies etc. Is it not a bit lax to let someone re-purchase prime after its been cancelled without either the password or the pin?
