Genuinely LOL’d at that ... I agree totally - holding £1 to ransom is just crazy

Anything tasty or of decent quality.
Nonsense! Most of their stuff is superb quality, and a lot of it beats stuff from pricier rivals.

Back on subject. Sarah had wanted a recliner for the garden for a while, and I saw some in Aldi. £35 if I recall. 'I'll have one of them!' I thought. She turned her nose up at it.
It doesn't look it, but it's one of the comfiest garden chairs I've ever sat on. Mum now has it!

Aldi Skiing stuff in today, kids and adults clothing. Bargain price merino wool stuff.

Was getting very grabby hehe so would hurry up if you want anything.
Me and the Mrs are doing Nordic skiing in Jan so bought a whole set of gear each, jackets, trousers, base layers, gloves, socks, all for £120. I’ll see soon how well it all performs but can’t see anything obviously poor about it.

They sell some lovely hot chocolate.
I look at that whilst there, at 60%+ sugar content I would expect it to be lovely... Will stick to the purer stuff I already use.

Two local ones seem to have "lunch" stuff in its own cabinet, but while it's got sandwiches, salads, all sorts of stuff like that, if you fancy a pork pie / sausage roll course, you have to search the rest of the store.

As supermarkets they aren't great if you're relying on them for everything; the ranges are too narrow. Great for convenience but easier to go to a proper shop where you could buy everything.

The 'random cheap stuff' can be really good.

Re. sandwiches I've never looked in the UK but Lidl in Italy did ham sandwiches with a printed shelf life of a month. I have no idea how and don't really want to. Tasted reasonably OK though.

I think both Aldi and Lidl are crap.

You go to a supermarket to buy everything you need. They both have giant holes in what they stock and you can't do a complete week's shop.

And anywhere that demands a quid stuck in a trolley doesn't get my business because I am above such things.

They're also depressing, cramped and laid out badly.
We are not the biggest foodies but we can get nearly all our shopping at the local Aldi. I do need to do a top up shop at the local Sainsbury or Morrisons but the cost savings at Aldi / Lidl means i dont mind having to go to a couple of stores.

The older lidl stores are horrible but i was in a new not yet open one in dunstable and felt every bit as nice as a waitrose , gluelam beam roof , led lighting and excellent build quality , unfortunately it is in dunstable so the customers will bring it down to in no time at all .

For properly crap quality at overblown prices , go to Tesco. Or just don't in fact.
Everything we've had from Aldi or Lidl so far has been really tasty, far better quality than certain rivals who want to think they are posher.

As for "everyones welcome".... you're a supermarket, not a 5-star hotel. Just fk off.

Aldi is like any other supermarket in that some products are good and some less so.

What they do sell ranges from excellent to barely consumable but that is the case with any supermarket. What annoys me is having to stand in a bloody long queue to buy a couple of items. They don't have enough staff and no self service checkouts.

Our nearest Aldi and Lidl (Rochdale) are both brand spanking new, and the Lidl is very nice indeed. Can’t fault it and the staff are all really nice.

Lidl Spanish wines are nice and bargain-tastic.

However Aldi excelled itself yesterday: I got a special ash vacuum cleaner for the fire. £32.99. Brilliant!
