The constant barbecues and music from neighbours, I moved to a village on my own for some peace and quiet however three of the houses seem to have constant barbecues and music playing, neighbour one plays morrisey constantly, another country and western and the third Lionel Richie and ABBA all while having barbecues late in to the night. The ladies which I'm reluctant to call them get more and more drunk on wine and cackle like witches as it gets dark.

I had to close my doors to hear a film it's that bad, I'm reluctant to go around as I don't want to be branded a trouble maker as the newbie and made a village outcast.

I can feel my B&W speaker coming out and 100 Ibiza anthems going on loop.

Wonder how you apply to be a lighthouse keeper...

This probably needs to be in a curmudgeon thread!
I don’t think it should be in a curmudgeon thread at all, the C/W, Lionel Richie, and ABBA I could suffer providing it was at reasonable volume, but I don’t think a court in the land would convict you if you threw a satchel charge into the midst of the morons playing Morrisey’s crap, and followed it up with a few bursts from an Uzi sub machine gun.
It's summer time. People are enjoying the weather, the long days and each other's company.

If he's such a miserable soandso, he should deliver himself into utter isolation, not think of ways of upsetting *normal* people.

I disagree. I've no problem with people having friends over, barbecues and music, but not to the extent it is selfish and adversely impacts other people's ability to enjoy the weather. By all means play music (except Morrissey, obviously), but not at a volume that disturbs other people. Similarly, if you have people over midweek, bear in mind your neighbours may have work the next day. It's just being considerate to others.

I'm with you on this, it's perfectly possible to enjoy your own garden without having a negative impact on others trying to do the same.

The daughter of one of my neighbours has recently taken to sitting on her 3 storey window ledge while playing the same song over and over again and singing along. Well I say singing, it's more of a shout, I think it's an attention thing, her parents recent split. When she isn't shinging (shout singing) she's usually swearing at her mum all hours of the night.

There are about 30 houses in this development, 4 of them create 99% of the noise.

The music choice alone is grounds for a complaint.musicmad

I don't know whether you live in a remote PH-director style mansion, or a more conventional domicile. If the latter, have you noticed how far sound is carrying during this hot weather? I don't know whether it's a meteorological phenomenon or what, but even during the day I can hear normal voice conversations several houses away. It's quite bizarre. Once you hit the evening, the background noise drops and you add in some amplification, music which is moderate at source is carrying a long way.

Couldn't agree more about the Morrissey though.

Icelandic drivers. Been here a week so far and seen about seven people in total indicate. Probably driven for about 3 1/2 hours all in.
And two of the seven then left them on for about five minutes.
Bus turning right at the roundabout? Nope. Car slowing to turning right on the main road with no way round? Nope.
On the plus side it was 18 degrees and sunny today. tongue out
The ones that drive for kilometre after kilometre with the
indicator blinking merrily away, turning left, right, going
around roundabouts, still constantly blinking, are very likely
London bus drivers, on holiday, driving rental cars.

The YouTube app (on Android at least) no longer allows you to tap the video time marker to skip or jump back to certain points. You have to touch the current position and slide it forwards or backwards.

I'm fuming.

I live in a more conventional domicile, although it goes without saying one appointed in impeccable taste. I haven't noticed the phenomenon you describe, though.

When you wake up at 3:50am on a Saturday and can't get back to sleep. On the plus side, I did just get to watch 3 fox cubs chasing each other and playing in the garden.

When you post a joke or amusing comment, the humour of which is predicated on the fact that you are alluding to something without saying it. And then some Captain Obvious twunt comes out and says it.

Oh yes yes

On similar lines - someone posts a pic of ( e.g. ) an aircraft - then someone comes along and posts what it is as if they've solved a great mystery even though a description was in the original post. Moreso if the second poster misidentifies it

They've walked a long way then.

From Hope to Thornton is a fair hike.

Nancy Dell'olio.- Why any one gives this hideous thing any air time, I really cant understand!

Probably actually a stage-creation drag queen called Nigel, as surely nobody like "her" could be that deluded that they're something special and hot and desired by every one!??

As for being a lawyer-what? Think "she" would be out of her depth in a PPI call centre!
