Really?

Even someone with basic reading skills and zero technical knowledge should be able to make something of that, if only from the context of the first sentence.
Read it again, slowly.
confused Not a clue.

Thank you to those who understand my ' wilful ignorance' of the highly technical post, to me anyway, earlier. There is no earthly reason why I, who has a computer, but barely scratch the surface of the depths of its technology, should comprehend such a post.

I'm not really into cars as most REAL petrolheads on this site, but like the computer, have a basic understanding of the subject.

I'm really happy about all this, honest, and lose no sleep as a result. thumbup

I honestly have no problem with lack of technical knowledge - I really don't. The only thing that annoyed me beyond reason was the lack of basic comprehension of "something was working, then something updated, and now it doesn't work any more, and this annoys me". That was it really.

According to Wiki, Serbo-Croatian is a South Slavic language, primarily used in Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Montenegro.
Serbian is the standardised version of Serbo-Croatian, and Croatian the same, a Croatian standardised version of Serbo-Croatian.

Seeing as this is the "Things which annoy you beyond reason" thread I'm going to respond to Clockwork Cupcake and captain_cynic, firstly the pair of you annoyed me beyond reason with your patronising attitude, secondly you annoyed me beyond reason by failing to take into account that not everybody is remotely interested in how it does it, just that it does it when it's needed, and you annoyed me beyond reason for a third time by singling out nonsequitur when in fact three of us posted basically the same thing, which makes the pair of you bullies and finally you annoyed me beyond reason with the "wilfully ignorant" comments, I spend all day on a computer both a PC and a 5 axis machining centre, I have zero need to understand what makes it all work I only have to understand how to make it work, this requires a basic understanding of using it, when it goes wrong that's what we have IT for, just as when something goes wrong on my machine that's what I'm here for, and if I can't sort the issue out then that's what our ME's are for, my wife uses a computer all day for her job, multiple programs, applications, data bases and portals and funnily enough she has absolutely no interest in the inner workings of it all, she just wants it to do what it's supposed to do when it's supposed to.
The pair of you really have come across as a couple of ignorant, arrogant bullies.

When most people buy a car it would surprise pretty much everyone if they started quoting gear ratios, swept volume, brake disc diameter , oil capacity etc. It just a 2 litre 5 door smithmobile. That's all they need to know and it's pretty much all anybody needs to know except the garage that services it. If you don't know everything ( I can't give examples as I know sod all) about computers some people regard you as stupid. How many people can quote the water consumption of their washing machine or the constituents of their dishwasher tablets? So why should you know anything beyond knowing how to turn it on about your computer.

And that's fine. But if you had posted here "I came into work today and found that the PC connected to my 5-axis milling machine did a Windows update and now Windows says the machine isn't there and the machine says the PC isn't there, so I can't mill this widget I need to mill" and someone replied "I haven't a clue what you are talking about", even you would surely reply "what, really? No clue at all?"

Same goes for someone reporting that their car's satnav did a software update and now their car won't start. You don't need to know anything about cars, SatNav, or software, to have a clue about what this means and how it is an annoyance.

That's really all it was from me.

So what you're saying is that someone making a generalisation about a subject annoyed you? Would you have preferred him to have said "I completely understand the contextual angle of the original posters comment, but I unfortunately do not understand the technical side to his post"? Very long winded and unnecessary when "I haven't a clue!!" covers it quite succinctly, I for one understood that he meant "I don't understand all the techy gobbeldy gook, but I do understand the context".

Ah, ok. I read it a different way - as literally no clue at all.

Fair enough.
