Speaking of VAG, we found these in France this summer. Always nice to have a hint of minty freshness when you’re travelling in hot countries...

Sure you were using them at right end? Looks suspiciously like a brand of French pessary to me.
They were in the sweets aisle.

They do, don’t they, but they’re mint sweets, found in any Carrefour, Auchan, or Leclerc supermarket in France, made by Lutti, a French company, about 120 years old.

You ever put off opening an email because you think you will have to work on it. Then you open it and its someone saying no change. Annoying

If you changed jobs to an assistant manager at an amusement arcade this would possibly be the worst email you could ever get.

After many years of poor performance, the company finally decided to splash the cash to upgrade and fix the heating/air conditioning in the building.

This has necessitated 6 weeks of work being carried out, with everyone in the building being required to up sticks and move around to different offices/desk spaces/work from home for a while whilst the workmen did what they needed to do.

All back into our normal spaces this week, scaffolding donw etc.

It's f***ing sweltering in here now and it isn't even 10am.

I have a hatred for people who are unable to work the thermostat on the aircon. It should never need to be moved by more than 2-3degrees but people go to one extreme or the other. 16 degrees or 30 degrees. It got to the point at my work that I'd have to take a jumper and would be regularly putting it on then taking it off as various people fked with the aircon.

The only justification for "full scale" is in the car in the depths of winter/heights of summer when it has sat for some time cooling/heating, I'm too cold/hot and I *want* a 30degree/15 degree blast....and then once I've warmed up/cooled down turn it back to ~20.5 and leave it.

Nobody is messing with the thermostat because we don't have one that actually does anything. We don't know where the sensor for it has to be but the monitor is telling us we are at 22 degrees at the moment. It was telling us we were at 22 degrees the other day as well, when we were all too hot.

So whatever huge amount of money has been spent over the last 6 weeks to "replace and upgrade" the previously rubbish system, has so far been insufficient to get us a system that works, or, been given a group of people who don't know what they are doing. Or something else.

Audi sweeping indicators.

I'd swear blind Audi drivers are now deliberately changing lanes more often just to show them off.

I'm not impressed. Don't bother.
Not just Audi... most of the rest of the VAG group cars are doing it now (VW especially), and other manufacturers are following suit.

I must confess that I'm starting to get used to them now and they annoy me a little less than they once did. I still think they look wky though.
I’m annoyed that people on a car forum think the nice folk at Audi invented them.

I know that in the 1980's, there were American cars with bulb-based scrolling indicators, and in the 90's a few Japanese manufacturers played with them for JDM-only cars, but I think Audi has epitomised the modern trend of LED array scrolling lights. I'm happen to be corrected though.

Very few things are 'invented' these days - old ideas tend to get re-implemented in new ways. That's certainly the case with scrolling indicators.

I'm not sure how either of the posts you quoted imply that Audi invented them though. Cobnapint's post simply said that the scrolling indicators as implemented by Audi are annoying, without commenting on who invented the idea. But that's just my interpretation of the post.

If I recall these had to be modified to non scrolling to conform to MOT standard oddly (I think) as stop any confusion with keep right/left scrolling road signs.

Wonder what has changed?

Mrs. nonseq knows very well how to operate the thermostsat, but she turns it up to MAX. Every time.

furious Don't get me started on this. Last time I was back, took the Panamera out for a drive up to Oxfordshire to see SWMBO mum. It's a scorching day. Can SWMBO stop fiddling with the climate control.... NO! She puts the temp up, she puts it down, fan up, fan down, changes it from blowing on her face to feet then back again. Anyway I as we come off the A34 I notice the car is warming up. It gets warmer & warmer, I'm looking at the controls & everything seems in order, but no the CC is definitely not working. By now we are both getting a bit hot, but have to stop to pick up some things. Turn the car on again & lo & behold it's working perfectly. The only conclusion I can come to is she has bamboozled the CC computer by continuously pressing random buttons. Does the same thing with the TV remote, just presses any button 'til what she wants happens. Try to explain.... No hopeless, you are the idiot.

Oh yes - and I bet that after a while she complains that it's too hot so she opens the windows, letting all that expensively heated air escape...then wonders why the energy bills are so high :/
