ETA - People on eBay who expect you to wrap the item you’re selling as COLLECTION ONLY and then wait in all day while the cheapest courier they can find tries to find your house using a 10 year old Tom Tom.
Fair enough. It's just annoying that the thing I want is too far away for me to collect, and seems like a trivial thing to package. It's like the seller can't actually really be arsed to sell it.
Plus it annoys me beyond reason, so is eminently eligible for this thread.

I'd look at this the other way round:It's just annoying that the thing I want is too far away for me to collect, and seems like a trivial thing to package. It's like the seller can't actually really be arsed to sell it.

Not living near enough to the collection only thing that you want off eBay.

I advertised an item a few years ago as collection only due to size/weight, winning bidder messages to say they have paid and will be arranging a courier, I reversed the paypal and told them it is collection only, I got a load of abusive messages for that. No way do i want the item collected by courier for the buyer to then open a dispute with ebay stating the item doesn't work/not as described/etc, ebay refunds the buyer and expects me to cover the cost to get the item back!
I had this recently with something that was just too heavy to send by courier. It was a broken Prius battery so was 45kg without packaging. Stated collection only and the winner was the other end of the country. After convincing him that I had no way to package it up as it would have to go on a pallet and I didn't have one handy he found someone local who could collect it. After about 3 weeks of this not actually happening, which was after he paid for it, I told him he had until that weekend before it was going in a skip. Why can't people read the advert and also consider the logistics of collecting what they are buying before they bid?

I don't disagree at all. And I have every sympathy for heavy / oversized items. However, in the instance that annoyed me, it was a PC case, which is neither bulky nor heavy. The seller just couldn't be arsed to package & post it. Or, indeed, respond to my emails. I'm wondering how they could even be arsed enough to put it up for sale, as they don't seem that interested in selling it.

Having not bought a car in the UK in many years, I was looking around eBay at what I wanted and got a general gist of how much they were going for. Then popped on to Auto Trader and found that in general they were about £500 cheaper. Gone are they days of bargains on there.talksthetorque said:
When you are on a training course and the other people on the course range from complete "never seen one before" novices to "I'll need about ten minutes of this two week course" old hands.
It was annoying when I was the former, and guess what - it's even more annoying now I am the latter.
I know I should have empathy for the newbies, but this isn't the thread for it.
When you're on course and it's coming to the end of the day and I've already mentally decided what train I'm getting home and when the instructor/trainer asks "any questions?", some muppet goes and sticks his hand up.It was annoying when I was the former, and guess what - it's even more annoying now I am the latter.

Having never worked in an office I've avoided a great deal of this but as a contractor I do occasionally have to be present when a project is being discussed. I'm always amazed by the hours of wasted time they take up, if you're used to an office environment I suppose it becomes the norm but listening to 6 people say the same thing in 6 different ways when 4 of them clearly have no idea about how to actually get something done drives me mad. Sometimes I genuinely sit with my mouth open at the stupidity of it all.
After 3 hours of circular waffling we end up with conclusions that could have been drawn after about 10 minutes. Why the hell can't somebody just say "You do that, you do this, you 4 fk off and do nothing while pretending to be busy and if there's any issues we'll have another chat" That's how things generally end up anyway.

But it's a marketplace. If things genuinely are "too much" then they won't sell.I'm frequently gobsmacked by how much people are willing to spend on what are basically knackered old bicycles. I want an '80s road bike to be a donor frame for a bunch of modern parts I have over from a crashed modern bike. But these old knackers often sell for more than I could buy a brand new bike for.
Then there was the time that I put in a silly-low bid on a bike for sale in Essex. Only my silly-low bid wasn't outbid, and I won the item. Cue a 260-mile drive around the top of the M25 to collect a £53 bargain bicycle. D'oh!
But then I couldn't really complain. No-one forced me to bid and I felt compelled to pay up and collect the thing (cash on collection) because I'd entered into a contract with the seller. So now, after spending another £200 on fettling it I'm the proud owner of an early '90s Cannondale bike with a (long defunct) HeadShok suspension system. Plus it was a day out somewhere I'd never been before...
