Went to the Post Office yesterday to post a large letter first class - Stamp price is 1 pound and 1 penny. Only the PO can come up with single item pricing like that.
And you have to queue for a year and a day.

Yes it does seem to take longer to get your 1st class stamp these days. A couple of points I'll throw into the mix as to why.

  • Since the widespread closure of bank branches, businesses can now pay-in their takings at the post office.
  • Fewer cash points, so we use the PO instead for cash withdrawals.
  • The profusion of so called on-line businesses, run from home, leads to a lengthy posting window at the counter. (Mondays seem to be ebay days).

That is annoying. I bet there was never a point they were exactly £1. Reminds me of the Severn Bridge going from £4.90 to £5.10. Just so at no point could you hand over a single note and be on your way, either wait for 10p or have to find one. Can't complain too much though as in a few weeks it is going to be £0.00.

Just a tad niche...

The fact my train belts through my final destination station every single morning so I spend 20 minutes getting back to where I've just been.

Quickest way of getting to work but drives me spare. The temptation to pull the emergency stop is growing strong.

This seems like an entirely reasonable annoyance to me. smile

Agreed - I spent a week working in Potter's bar.
Train to King's cross and straight back out again.
To avoid doing this involved 3 changes and took 25 minutes longer.

Rear facing dash cams. I have front mounted, fine, but sitting behind someone being filmed feels wrong. I put the visor down now it pisses me off that much in heavy traffic.

A high proportion of accidents are people getting rear-ended, so they do make sense

However in a nose-tail collision the fault is usually clear and it is the onus of the driver behind to demonstrate that it's the other drivers fault.

Hence why rear facing dash cams are a bit pointless from the perspective of protecting your NCB. Not that they bother me.

That's becoming increasingly common I've noticed, especially with stuff coming from the Far East which just adds unnecessary delay. You would think given the time it takes to get here from China they would get a move on and have it dispatched the same or next day. It ends up being a week before they post it and then 2 weeks to get here.

I understand but it just feels like an invasion of your privacy.

ETA having seen the bad driving thread I always picture the driver getting irate and screaming ‘Got you on camera, mate! Going to the Police, this’.
