Things that annoy you beyond reason...(Vol 5)
Discussion
Bit of a first world one.
Celebrities/TV/media people who never reply to tweets or comments on their FB page. I thought it was just me, but turns out its across the board.
Not stupid st like "I want to marry you" or "you suck at your job"
But recently a former TV commentator asked about a specific part for a classic car he owned. Several people answered (inc myself) He didn't even say Thanks to anyone.

Just about to press the Buy It Now button on ebay on an item that is also an auction listing.....and someone puts a paltry bid on. NOOOOOOO! Now I have to wait five days to see if it's mine or not.
Yes, I really hate that about eBay. They charge you extra listing fees to be able to do a Buy it Now, which disappears (with no refund) the moment that someone bids on it. For that reason, I will never put a BiN on an auction - my listings are always either BiN *or* auction-style, never both. Clockwork Cupcake said:

Likewise - I usually disable the 'best offer' too, as some numpty invariably makes a stupidly low offer which wouldn't even pay the postage cost then gets irate because you don't accept it
I quite like the Best Offer feature actually, so long as you get it to auto-reject offers below a certain amount (which it lets you do at no additional fee thankfully). I find it less stressful to click a "decline" button than to have to respond to unsolicited offer emails. For stuff that I don't mind sitting there for months until the right buyer comes along (old computer kit, mostly), then "Buy it Now, Offers Accepted" works well for me. It does help that in that market, you tend to get buyers who know what something is worth and rarely offer much less than it. Plus I tend to price my stuff fairly too.
But I digress.

Ebay can be a strange place - listed something with a start price of £10 and it didn't even get anyone watching. Relisted a couple of times, same story. Relisted a fourth time, dropping the start price to £8 - several bids and sold for £25 !
Yes, I've noticed that too. Or you decide to drop the starting price to generate interest and it goes for a maiden bid.
Oh, and whilst we're having a moan about eBay, the fact that their listings search now includes fuzzy logic. Whilst it is nice that when you search for an item, you now get misspellings etc included in the results, what is less nice is getting a load of false positives too.
I am searching for "Sheaffer Targa Fountain Pen", for example, and am getting results for roller balls and pencils too, even though those listings don't even mention fountain pen.

Yup
And the number of times I've seen 2nd hand books listed for more than they cost new from Amazon - don't these people do any price research ?
Oddly enough I've lately been doing some packing in a book warehouse, where one of the customers is Amazon buying books at an agreed price - that is above the direct sale price advertised on the website of the firm I'm working for. So not even Amazon are above buying at the 'wrong' price. And the number of times I've seen 2nd hand books listed for more than they cost new from Amazon - don't these people do any price research ?
