Ain’t that the truth. >50% was tax probably, so only about £20k more cash in your pocket... not life changing.
Between £50k and £100k you pay 40% tax and 2% NI so of that extra £50k you’d see £29k. Take home on £50k would be about £37k so it’s almost doubling your take home.

You'd also lose any child benefit.

Ah ok fair enough, my number was a little over-dramatised. I was thinking that there would be some reduction in personal allowance and a move into the 45% band but seems like I have forgotten all the thresholds beer

On the averages and where the percentiles lay, it won't be easy to compile that information truthfully.

Shareholders of SMEs will take large chunks in divis, as well as other benefits.
Yes it would be interesting to know if the figures were just based on PAYE or from actual returns. PAYE would ignore income from property as well which is probably a significant chunk for the population as a whole.

It's not really easily quantifiable.

My family is much like the Mafia. The fruits of our projects and labours go into 'the pot' and the the pot buys us our houses, cars, holidays etc.

So there.

I also can't remember the last time I ever went to a cash machine.

You're into gambling, extortion and loansharking?

That would explain the nice cars wink
I sometimes wish my life was as exciting as The Sopranos, but no... it really isn't!

£160k per yr there will be many next door neighbours in average street earning that.
Where are these average streets rofl
I live in an area of Bristol where most of the houses (3 bed semis) are only about £200k and it's true that pretty much all of my neighbours are on an easy 6figs, most well into the hundreds of thousands.

That's why they all drive old vauxhalls and 1 litre KIAs and go on package holidays to Majorca. Stealth wealth you see.
Where are these areas of Bristol??

Enough not to post a figure on here in case the taxman is reading the thread.

Could be even worse if the Corbynistas get in. eek

Not telling a figure but no matter how much it goes up the wife and kids seem to Hoover it all back out of the account again. Whatever crumbs are left is due to HMRC.

£625 per day, on a 220 working day per year contract. You do the maths.

What role is this? How much of that a month in your hand (assuming via a ltd company?)?

All I know is I've personally paid £80k in income tax this year. That's on top of what my employer pays in NI contributions.
