Frank Bruno was on our exhibition stand to launch a new product for us at the NEC sometime in the early 90's, I gave him a TicTac because his breath stunk, he said thank you and shook my hand.

Suppose I should mention John Surtees who was on track at the same time as me at Brands in 1983.

He gave me some advice on my riding.

Carl Fogarty, in Assen, sadly the same night following the race that claimed Nagai after he crashed on oil and his bike landed on top of him. Made somewhat worse by the fact we'd left our grandstand seats to arrive at at the corner just in time to see the crash :-(

Met Fogarty again on the ferry on the way back.

Some v minor celebs when I was a small time race mechanic, eg Bobby Verdon-Roe when he was in single seaters, didn't make the connection until I mentioned it to my Dad who told me what a famous family he was from.

No contact but... also red flagged Simon Le Bon for driving like a tw*t on a track day, apparently not the first offence. Long time ago all that, bloody hell.

The queen as a cub scout opening the local shopping center!

Prince Charles opening a business center in Islington. To this day I've never seen a sharper suit, he must wear them once and bin them. He was also extremely charismatic , I came away thinking he was real dude, something I never thought I would of said beforehand.

With the possible exception of Warwick Davis, and the misspelled Ricky Gervais, how could you lump the exceptionally talented Héloïse Letissier in with that bunch?
If I were you, I’d rewrite that post, mentioning Mr. Davis and Mr. Gervais once each, deleting Carr and Klass, and giving Mlle. Letissier three mentions.

And Phil the Greek twice, about 25 years apart

And I think a first for the thread, HRH Dianna PoW, when she was still HRH

We know the Els family on first name terms when we occasionally meet

Oh, I'd forgotten I've met him, a couple of times. I've got a photo of him standing next to my car.

I'm sure there was someone more famous I'd met, but I don't really go to the kind of places where these people are. And when I do, I can't think of anything worthwhile to say so there's not much point going any closer.
I couldn't agree more on this last bit. Unless in dying to meet them (very seldom) I don't want the awkwardness, and nor do they.

I've met wizzo a couple of times as we both do various shades of work at historic car events in the Midlands. Lovely (if faintly bonkers) man. Did a lap in his works Mini Cooper at Bromyard Speed Festival with his mum (still going strong) and then, curiously, his dog.

I tripped over one of the magnificent seven once.

(They were filming hustle in our office and he was spawned in a chair by the door - and I tripped over his outstretched feet. We apologised at each other and carried on - I've been trying and failing to dine out on that for years)

I used to go to school with Myleene and one of my mates went out with her for a while.

But i can trump that. I was on a flight to Barbados, first class obvs, and as i left the upper deck of the 747 to collect my carry on baggage at the bottom of the stairs the guy next to me pulled his out and hit my shoulder, it was only Dale Winton! hehe. We were the first to the luggage carousel and the first case that came out was bright pink, he looked at me and said "oooh here comes mine", it wasn't his though and i just looked at him like he was a tt.

I think we can close the thread now!

I knew she did a lot of that kind of thing, but I never realised she did them in costumes.

Norman Cook (Fat Boy Slim) - Used to live in a house with a pirate radio station studio in the spare bedroom. He was a fan and came over and played. Really sound and normal bloke. More of a vinyl geek than a superstar DJ.

Loads of other acts though none as famous,

Booked Mark Archer or Altern8, Luke Vibert, Evil Nine, Keith Tenniswood and a fair few others down over the years,

One of the old cast of Grange Hill tried to pull my sister once, not Roland but another cubby one. Seemed like a decent bloke though he failed spectacularly.

Sat next to her on a plane from Frankfurt. I spent the first 30 minutes of the flight trying to work out where I’d seen her before... it was only when she asked for a drink and I heard the voice & French accent that I realised. I spent the remainder of the flight, plus the schlep from the plane through passport control flirting shamelessly with her. I think she wanted me...

Myleene Klass though. Mmmmmmmmm!
