In Hong Kong he patted me on the head. I was six years old but do remember it as although I did not know who he was my dad and brother got stupidly excited. He died not long after.

Used to know govt Transport Secretary Chris Grayling socially and went to parties at his flat in Balham in the 1980s.

Shared a flat at uni with James Mates, the ITV newscaster

Edwina Currie once asked me (in a restaurant) if I wanted my pudding. I said, no, and she duly ate it.

Had lunch with Roger Clark. That afternoon he drove me around a rally stage in his 1970s Escort.

Used to correct Vicki Butler-Henderson's spelling when we worked together at What Car? magazine.

Gave Raef Bjayou (below: ex-Apprentice TV series) a lift during a Fiat press event. That hair appeared to be a wig.

I've got autographs of many famous motorsport people but whether I touched them or maybe shook their hand I've no idea.

I got a good pic of me with Tim Vine ,at a book signing local to both of us ,in Cheam.

not posting it !

My uncle was his mom's neighbour in Barrow. Met his brother at my uncle's funeral about 15 years ago. Thoroughly nice man.

I looked for (and found) for his inscription amongst the hundreds of thousands at The National Arboretum last year.

We grew up in a small town with a recording studio, lots of visiting pop stars.

Crewed a hot air balloon and flew Anna Abramovich - she was a nice girl, down to earth, different level of expensive clothes, we weren't told who she was for security reasons until after she was picked up

Ron Perlman, when he tried to buy coke from my (then) girlfriend when we lived in Prague. She was a medical student, not a drug dealer. And now she’s my wife.

Played rugby with Hugh Woozencroft at uni. Thoroughly good bloke and a great player, nice to see him doing well in a field he will clearly love.
