"Less haste, more speed"

"Be more interested in others than you are in yourself"

"How do you want your children to behave? Act in the manner now"

Never get married, it's a mug's game.

Never pay interest, as paying more than the sticker price on anything is a mug's game.

You regret the things that you didn't do more than the things that you did do?

I often think of this absolute truth, to remind me to make the most of relationships:

Sooner or later in life, the things you love you lose.

I always heard that as "It's better to regret the things you did than the things you didn't."

From my grandpa,
Measure twice, cut once.

From my dad
There are old pilots and there are bold pilots, there are no old, bold pilots.
and
Better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

And,
Change the things you cannot accept, accept the things you cannot change.

Never fart and sit at the same time, you'll fart in your own face hehe

People deserve what they settle for.

There is no such thing as coincidence.

Don't believe everything you are told, double check.

Don't waste good.

If you can keep your head when all around you are loosing theirs, it's possible you've grossly misread the situation.

For a few days around the middle of a young woman's monthly cycle, there's about a one-in-three chance she'll get pregnant from just a single encounter, and a one-in-two chance she'll get pregnant from multiple encounters. That's assuming everything 'works' normally.
At other times of the month the chance of conceiving is fairly low (and her sex drive probably will be low too; mother nature designs humans to be most interested at their most fertile times and some studies have suggested that tend to look or make themselves look more attractive around their fertile days).

I know this because I worked in medical sciences and also because my wife and I left it until our mid-30s to have a family then decided we needed to hurry before it was too late. So my wife used an ovulation kit to tell her when she was 'ripe'; due to us working awkward hours at the time we only 'danced in the dark' once and she got pregnant.
We did the same when we were trying for kids as we also caught first time, with twins. It has been part of our cautionary tale about unprotected sex.

I did mull over telling the kids about the rhythm method as an extra layer of protection (as it is easy to forget to take the pill or break a condom at that age) but as the period cycles for teenage girls can be unpredictable I didn't think it reliable enough with randomly changing days for teenagers who often forget homework, train passes, and various other things.

I'm hoping the lad gets lucky, the girl will certainly want to keep it.

My first boss told me this as I was leaving to go to university.

Try not to acquire skeletons in your cupboard. They will come back to haunt you when you least want them to.

Brilliant advice from a guy who spoke from experience.

Brilliant thread everybody! Even if advice is contradictory at points.

I did the family business thing and at the moment I try to controll the fallout of my wife midlife realising she won't spent the rest of her years with me. (my stomach was all against a lot of what brought me into this trouble...)

But about the lease of "t*ts" I am still on the fence.

When I was 16 and dating my first proper girlfriend, the only thing my Dad said about the relationship was:

Don't get her pregnant. Don't get engaged.

It's good advice.
Why did I read that in a Gandalf "Is it secret? Is it safe?" voice? biggrin

Always be wary of those who mention mugs. Tea is to be served in a teacup.
