I work for a Japanese company with a Head Office in Holland and can confirm that's about right.biggrin

However don't confuse working hours per week (being in the office) with productivity.

It seems that 6 hour working try trial ended in Sweden, but even though things were better the cost was deemed prohibitive.

Interesting thread.

I think some of you may find this interesting, maybe even inspiring. It made me stop and re-look at my life.

I work with a lot of Swedes and I have to hand it to them they have their priorities straight.

Recently my projects have been mainly with American colleagues and the difference in outlook is stark. The Americans are always online, always pushing, always stressed over something or other. Our meetings are stressful, aggressive and often unproductive.

Working with the Swedes, whilst sometimes a little frustrating due to their laid back attitude, is a lot more pleasant and the work gets done. In fact thinking about, the amount of profitable work that comes out of our Swedish operations (and British), is probably at least an order of magnitude greater than our American operations......
