I appreciate that we have huge numbers of foreign tourists at any given point in London, plus loads of foreign workers, students etc, but surely they don't make up over 50%. Where's your evidence that foreigners outnumber the British in London?
presumably he has been here
And in any case he was expressing an opinion, not writing a research paper.

I thought The Monkeys were better than The Beatles.
Who wasn't better than The Beatles?
I find as a professional musician that there is a small percentage of folks who almost seem to proclaim not liking the Beatles a sort of badge of honour, perhaps a way of 'being different'.

I do find it fascinating. I realize we all have differing views, but the song catalogue of the Beatles is just so transparently exceptional that I find it mildly amusing more than anything to hear from someone that they think they are 'overrated'.

Try performing 'Here, There and Everywhere', 'Blackbird', 'Yesterday' and 'For No One' and then have a little think about that band as being anything other than truly astonishing. I do these and others on a nightly basis, and those songs amaze me with the sheer brilliance of the writing even after hundreds of performances.
Yes your right. As a guitarist I found the comment that the Monkee's were better than the Beatles a very odd one indeed.

possibly not - and I haven't looked up any of the demographics either.

Having lived in London for 21 years............and worked here most of that time. I'd be amazed if there are more British people in London than non British people.

Obviously the further that radius moves outwards, even by a mile at a time, the more British would shift on the % increase

Presumably he’s confusing white British with British. At the 2011 census 63% of Londoners were British born. 45% white British, 60% white total, 5% mixed race, 13% black, 18% Asian and a few “others”.

I didn't say it does. Just having been here a long time - it feels very much like British is the minority (white or otherwise)

I don't get the 'British' comment. Forgetting about race or origin, then probably 80 or more percent in London are British citizens.

Yes, excluding tourists and foreign residents, I'd say 80% or more are British.

That's a staggering conclusion. Really?

I'm sitting here in an office of 15 people, 14 Brits and a Brazilian.

Maybe that’s in the census data somewhere I haven’t bothered looking into it in that level of detail but the above just makes it very clear that despite perceptions London is still majority British even by birth never mind citizenship. I should think you’re probably not too far off. Obviously for the European population there is currently not much point in acquiring British citizenship at present, that will I assume change in the next couple of years.

You sure you're not thinking about white rather than british? There's plenty of non-white british, and also a bunch of non-british whites.

It's going to be an quite interesting outcome I recon. I want to retire and live (and work part time) in Spain after Brexit. How that will affect me then I have no idea at the moment.

I still don't get why the capital of the country should be determined by the percentage of foreigners living there? Can you explain that?

OK. So it may feel like a minority, but it isn't, though I guess it depends on your borough.
