It's also supposed to reduce reoffending of course.
Of course, but wouldn't life imprisonment have the same effect...With death sentences, on top of the cost of housing the prisoner for probably 10 years, you have to factor in the huge cost of all the appeals processes that are gone through with many of them, over all the years, to overturn their death sentence. Life imprisonment doesn't quite carry that same impetus and urgency for all those people fighting for amnesty for the incarcerated,
employers that take the piss?
you mean in that they pay one person what they can get away with?
I firmly believe you negotiate your own salary and it's part of the job........most places have bandings, if you know your worth, say you want top of the banding and if you don't get it, go to somewhere that will pay you it........
unless of course you're a crap freeloader.........and just want to be paid more because the other guy is.......
In my game, it would shut down businesses - as the difference in 'salary' is sometimes 4 or 5 times more with people sitting along side each other

nobody's talking about freeloading, or getting an increase in pay for no reason, or anything like that.you mean in that they pay one person what they can get away with?

Just access to information. then you can choose to keep working knowing what you know. or take your services elsewhere knowing that your employer thought you were worthless to them anyway.

If that were the case, the employee would not be working there in the first place and so negates the need for salary disclosure.Asking someone how much they earn is - in my book anyway - one of the most invasive things you can ask someone and is something that most people choose to keep to themselves. It's nobody's business what they earn. So any disclosure must always be at the employees consent which few would give which again negates the benefit of such information being made available.
As has been mentioned, salary banding is more than sufficient to provide indicative levels of pay across organisations.

I like shopping with my wife, whether it be for food, clothes, Christmas presents, stuff that I want to buy, stuff that she wants to buy, whatever. I hate online shopping and will do whatever I can to avoid it.
That's got to be a winning Unpopular opinion right there! fatboy18 said:

Then we have the Pedo and murder problem.
Case comes to mind of James Bulger this is pure evil and the killers have gone on to reoffend in other ways despite being paroled and given name changes.

Pretty much any thread forum on the internet, especially if its UK based, no matter what the subject is, turns into petty argument and laughable insults.

That depends on which thread/s you follow. Not all PH is just about cars.
Pretty much any thread, no matter what the subject is, turns into petty argument and laughable insults. I'd argue that next to none of it is about cars. Gassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
