You know it's true.takes a seat on the sideline, awaits developments, if any.
Perhaps you never did it. But don't pretend it doesn't happen.
But if you mean did I ever tell a fare that my card reader wasn’t working, then no, I never did.
Although cash was preferable, my take on the job, my hand to God, was to get as much dough as I could, (actually I worked to a daily target), and as soon as I hit that target, I’d turn the TAXI light off, and go home.
I could hit that target quicker, by never ”brooming” any job, and taking both cash, and Debit/Credit cards as payment, and I won’t pretend that taxi drivers don’t sometimes lie about their card readers, but personally, I see doing that as short sighted.
It could be a blinding job, but if the fare asks if he can pay by card, and is told no, then the fare will find a taxi that will take his card, and that blinding job has gone.
Of course, if a fare just proffers a card at the destination, (as he’s entitled to), and then the driver says his reader’s out of service, it’ll be a lot of kerfuffle, but the fare could say, here’s my card, or take my address from my driving licence, give me yours, and I’ll send you a cheque.
But who needs all that aggravation?

That rather depends on what you mean, if you mean “was I ever remiss with the truth” when I declared my annual takings to my accountant when he completed my self-assessment form, then that’s a matter between me and my conscience.
I think you'll find it's a matter between you and HMRC.CaptainSlow said:

I think you'll find it's a matter between you and HMRC.Of course, they could say that it IS their concern to ensure that I told HMRC the truth, because if I’m withholding my due tax amount, it could be money that contributes to their pensions and/or benefits, but they, (the public), are not entitled to question me on the subject.

It was certainly a matter between myself and HMRC when I submitted my takings amount, but if John Q. Public wants to ask me if I’ve been ‘straight’ with my tax dealings, then it’s not their business.

It's pretty obvious what the answer is anyway, I imagine all the cabbies are at it.
I bet the private hire lot are more honest.

I think we should be careful to recognise the critical distinctions between National Socialism, Socialism and Social Democracy.
I don't think a lot of people can cope with such a fine distinction. They see 'we should tax the wealthy a little more to fund programmes to help the poor' as 'lets turn this country into Venezuela'.gregs656 said:

Agreed gregs, they CAN ask, but if you think about it, it’s like being asked, “How much do you earn?”, or, “How much did you pay for your house?”, or, “How much did you get for the house you sold?”It's pretty obvious what the answer is anyway, I imagine all the cabbies are at it.

Those things are no one’s business but your own.
Not all Black Cab drivers are at it, but I’d guess that there are more “at it” than not.
Why would Private Hire drivers be more honest?
Sure, I had no love for them when I was working, but I’ve nothing against them now, they’re probably of little difference to anyone self-employed, they’ll bend the rules if they think that they can get away with it.

Men and women are generally DIFFERENT, physically and mentally. Yes, like venn diagrams, there are areas of overlap, but they are generally different.

If that wasn't the case, overwhelming prison population being male = matriarchal conspiracy?
Political correctness has not gone mad. Most of the time, it just means being polite. There is nothing to stop teachers or pupils using the word "blackboard". The Labour controlled council have not outlawed it. The reason they don't is because few schools have them these days, and most have whiteboards, that are used with marker pens.

Have you been in a school recently?A whiteboard is a bit late 90s/early 00s these days. All about the interactive displays now, using a stylus or other media input!

I'd agree that a fair few people confuse what they deem political correctness with politeness, and for some dregs even common courtesy. It's also worth noting that what we call political correctness isn't owned wholly by the left.Shakermaker said:

All PowerPoint at Mrs Flibble's school. I think they have whiteboards as well though (you can project on to whiteboard). A whiteboard is a bit late 90s/early 00s these days. All about the interactive displays now, using a stylus or other media input!

I’m sick of hearing about the Irish backstop and couldn’t care less about Irish border controls or tensions in the Irish community. Let’s get on with it for the sake of England, Scotland and Wales..
I have a relative who was blown up by the IRA while minding his own business in London. He survived but still has a disability to this day.He would probably batter you if you said that to him.
