Sportsmen/woman should be allowed to take any enhancing drugs as required. I thought the idea was to improve to be the best.
Look at other sports. Golf clubs, tennis rackets, footballs etc are not the same as when the sport started so why not people?
I’ll bet if you legitimised PEDs there’d not be any significant performance increase in top athletes.Look at other sports. Golf clubs, tennis rackets, footballs etc are not the same as when the sport started so why not people?

I think the top women would get a lot more hairy.

In early 90s Manchester when men love was starting to become publicly acceptable to men, women, those that hadn't made up their mind, those too drunk to remember and my mate Salford Geoff, and the Canal Street area getting it's reputation, slang "a fab night out" meant f"fckd a bottom".
This was another way of saying you'd been the "top" that night, (stealing the previous hard, nish, clish, banging, 'top-won' mate from the Manc scallies dictionary, a "top" night out).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top,_bottom_and_vers...
So it is entirely correct for 'fab' to associated with a homosexual. Or a builder of Thurnderbird models. Or a collector of ice lollies with 100s and 100s upon.
Cheap Northerners. We have 100s and 1,000s on our Fabs darn sarf. This was another way of saying you'd been the "top" that night, (stealing the previous hard, nish, clish, banging, 'top-won' mate from the Manc scallies dictionary, a "top" night out).

Just remove the stigma. Steroid use is legal in the UK and while selling them or importing them without a prescription is illegal if you do happen to just come across a big bag of dianabol you can go nuts.I think the top women would get a lot more hairy.
Ariana Grande wouldn't be as famous or sell as many records if it wasn't for the Manchester bombing.
Please note that in no way am I saying she either wanted or has deliberately taken advantage of the situation - it was a terrible, shocking event and I imagine extremely traumatising for her. I just believe that all the media attention has ultimately raised her profile and thus sold more records.

What if you just happen to come across such a bag, having recently just happened to have misplaced an envelope full of money? john_1983 said:

She's certainly more famous, because it brought her name to the attention of people who weren't her target audience. But they won't buy her records. She was doing just fine before Manchester and is doing so afterwards. But tragedy has helped many people and institutions. She's not unique. Manchester United would not be the worldwide brand they are today without Munich. No one wanted Munich to happen, but it transformed them into what they are today.

This. Most PHer's are not her audience. The first time I heard about her was in 2014 and she was already famous before that (yeah, I don't really keep up with pop culture).
The main reason she's famous is because she's attractive. Same could be said for most pop stars, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, et al. Put a minger behind the autotuned voice and they'll be considered talentless hacks.

I don't think many people would consider Adele a raging beauty. captain_cynic said:

Oh i dont know, Ke$ha and Lady Gaga were initially well regarded as unattractive and they havent done too badly for themselves have they Most PHer's are not her audience. I don't think many people would consider Adele a raging beauty. But it's the exception that proves the rule. I'm pretty sure if we tried to name talentless caterwauling popstars that aren't attractive vs the ones that are it'd be a pretty lopsided list.

Couldn't agree more, I'm not sure it's an unpopular opinion though! It would certainly be more entertaining anyway.Look at other sports. Golf clubs, tennis rackets, footballs etc are not the same as when the sport started so why not people?
On a semi related note, I think there shouldn't be any restrictions on how powerful racing cars can be. Sod the health and safety, it's a pretty dangerous thing to be doing anyway so why not just go balls out.
While we're on sport, do away with offside in football, would make the game more exciting imo. Also why bother with injury time? Just stop the clock when play stops.
Also I just heard on the radio that the commentator thought Tuesdays were a worse day than Monday. I thought that opinion HAS to be unpopular, but apparently not from talking to people at work about it, a surprising number agree, and in fact, rather worryingly some people think Sundays are worse than Mondays weird weird people....
Time to start a new controversy running ....
I think it is time for all the 'we wuz robbed' refuseniks regarding Jaguar XJ220s to pipe down for ever. They still insist that people placing orders for the XJ220 in 1989 thought they were signing up for the V12-engined four-wheel-drive concept car which had appeared in 1988, and not for the V6-engined rear-drive car which eventually went on sale in 1992.
They are wrong. When the production car was launched in 1989, Jaguar Sport always made it clear that it would have a V6 engine, and rear-drive only. The glossy brochure, of which I have a copy, made this crystal clear in several places, and the sale contract was also quite specific.
As far as I know, incidentally, the original V12-engined concept car never turned a wheel under its own power, and was never actually 100% complete, so its only 'career' was as a 'Motor Show Queen' ....

Nor a good singer either. A cat being strangled by a bad clarinet player would sound better so I have no idea about that one.

But look at how many records the Spice girls sold compared with the Corrs. That's hardly down to looks, not down to talent either of course. But it's the exception that proves the rule. That I think certainly qualifies for this thread.
I wouldn't lump The Corrs in with mass produced pop, they did write their own songs. They didn't win a televised talent(less) competition, they worked their way up through pubs and clubs. I'm not a fan, but I'm not going to lump them in with the majority of pop stars that get through on their looks and autotune.

I believe most are already doing it. They are just not getting caught or the substances involved have yet to be banned. Sportsmen/women are most definitely being protected by clubs, governing bodies etc.Look at other sports.
