I'm shorter than the average male, not massively but nonetheless shorter.
To my knowledge, it's not held me back in life although I have to admit, it's probably dented my confidence on occasions.
In this age of political correctness, why is it acceptable to insult people who are short?
Almost every time a female is interviewed on a TV dating show (my wife watches them) they say they don't like short men.
They'd get lynched if they said anything about race, religion, weight or disability

Tell me I'm being paranoid shortarse and this is just short man syndrome.

You need to stop watching TV dating shows if they wind you up.

Someone should be allowed to say they don't like black/white/skinny/fat people. What's wrong with that? You aren't actually saying nasty. Likewise, someone should be allowed to say they don't like short or tall people.

PC is quite dangerous and its giving activist morons the deluded idea that they can represent their whole 'group' of people. Group identity sucks ass too.

Exactly, but they're not allowed. Only short

Where do you want it to stop? Isn't it bad enough already?

What next, you aren't allowed to say you dislike people with odd socks on? People with grey hair? People who wear brown shoes?

What do you dislike about someone saying they don't want a short person? It doesn't hurt you, they aren't having a dig at you? They are just stating what they like and dislike in the context of dating.

Its sad that people look to find offence in pretty much every walk of life now.

Many of the executives I have worked with have been shorter. I worked for an incredibly successful guy who was about 5’7” and could command a room with a look. Confident people do not worry about height. They have bigger fish to fry.

I'm 5 foot 4 with a 27in inside leg, so whilst not a dwarf, I'm certainly short for a man. I'm ok with it, only issue I have is sometimes my choice of motorbike needs a bit more consideration. I had an NC700X and got it lowered slightly. A Triumph Tiger 800 was well off the cards, unfortunately.

I think it can affect your dating chances to a degree, but how much that is the other person not liking short people or just your own worry that they won't I don't know. My Mrs is slightly taller than me, She doesn't mind it, though I think she'll be wearing flats when we get married so she's not towing over me in the wedding photos!

Everybody is allowed to say which features they find sexually attractive or not. That's not racism. Or sexism. Or shortism. If I said I wouldn't date a black woman because I don't find black women sexually attractive, that wouldn't be racist. If I said I wouldn't date a black woman in case her brother mugged me, that would be racist.

Not finding short people attractive is fine. Not trusting them because they look dodgy is not fine.

If that weren't so, a straight woman saying she wouldn't date another woman because she doesn't find women attractive could be accused of sexism and misogyny, which obviously isn't the case.

For the record, I don't find short women attractive. I like long legs. But I know lots of short women in my life and like many of them a lot.

Dear OP,
Have you considered the possibility that when those women say they don't like short men, they are not referring to height,. they are stating a preference for length?

Just sayin'. wink

My height has never been a problem for me and I've never had trouble getting girlfriends, even taller ones.
Success in life isn't gauged by height.
TBH, it probably says more about the women on the dating shows - the fact that they are looking for a certain type. it might explain why they're single.
Height, race, disability, etc.,all of which can't be changed, all of which shouldn't be discriminated against.
Sock colour, shoe size - you know what they say

I have a short friend, he was looking at buying an Alfa so we saved him the bother and bought this

Skanky women tend to require a man who is able to defend their honour in a Wetherspoons and tend to be overly concerned as to what random strangers think. Hence why they spend the first half of the day trowelling on a mask and the other half bhing about everyone and wanting a bloke who will buy them the shiny trim lets their Dad couldn’t and punch the people they go around offending.

Intelligent women with a future tend to require a man who can provide the right future for their children. Ergo pub fighting requirements diminish and career trajectory requirements come to the fore.

Society in the last two decades has taken an absolutely enormous leap towards visual discrimination and social insecurity as well as victimisation so those who don’t fit society’ expectations are probably being discriminated against more than before, whether that be short height, ginger hair, wrong trousers or anything that’s different and so scares simple people.

The solution is to go fishing at a fishing lake not a sewage works.

It wouldn't be racist. But that doesn't mean some social justice warrior wouldn't call you racist. Which only serves to build up resentment.

Mmm, yes. Assuming the OP is also a multi-billionaire then he should have no problems in life.

Although to be fair, Bernie was not born with money, it was all work, luck and an almost pathological arrogance and selfishness which has got him so far in life.

Categorising an entire group of people based entirely on their skin colour is the very definition of racism.

I'm 5'7", which I don't have an issue with myself. My dream car is a Ferrari Testarossa and, having sat in a few, I feel being any taller would make things difficult - it's a surprisingly snug car! But, I did find it rather irksome when I went through a phase of online dating and women as small as 5'2" were insisting that they'd only date men who were 5"10" or above.

The best thing about being short is all the money I save on food.

Sometime I wish I was a bit shorter and I'd be able to buy children's shoes too (no vat).
