I am not sure I have made any claims, I have merely pointed out some things that i have seen that turned some cogs in my possibly over active curiosity trait, and some of those things have been explained as being 'nothing to see here'.

And tbh this is why no one engages with my friend in an actual discussion as his "evidence" typically is posting some weirdos website or you tube channel with a "theory" on many many subjects, FE just being one of the most stupid.
Understood, and to be honest i tend not to bring up things that this in public. If somebody else does, I might dip a toe into the conversation to see where it leads but i am not of these conspiracy ranter types.

You are dealing with someone who is very likely socially-awkward, who is possibly insular and fearful with serious phobias for Authority and most things beyond their own 4 walls.

Individuals like this seek out similar-minded souls to reinforce and comfort their need to believe the things they do - it is less a case of the fact that they cannot prove their assertions than a case of really not wanting to try since they rely upon the 'comfort' of their beliefs and the camaraderie of their fellow tin-foil hatters; to shatter their 'truths' would be to make them even more insecure.

Conspiracy Theorists are a fringe, we can afford them their fantasies so long as they are harmless. But don't expect an intelligent debate with one, they need the crutch they have invented to get through each day. smile

You are really not listening to me, are you Eric?

Are you ex military? Your tone is very similar to Ginetta Girl.
Just want the facts, m'am.

I'll listen when you have something to say that's worth listening too.

Waffle on, my friend.

Patrick Moore came to this conclusion as far back as 1971 when he wrote this book. I remember reading it at the time.

I suspect you see questioning things that most people hold to be true as something that marks you out out as less gullible than the common man... I also suspect most of the people reading what you have written believe you're likely to be more gullible, due to your willingness to reject the commonly held narrative. wink

You wont get any argument from me.

I have 'looked into ' things in the passed before dismissing them (no, not the moon landings) that i am quite confident and a bit hopeful that that process hasn't finished yet. I already look back at some things i have been prepared to consider and wonder how i could have been sucked in.

I am sure there were people that witnessed JFK's assassination at the time and have held onto serious doubts about the official narrative ever since. Maybe i will fall into that camp !

I dont think I am any more intelligent or less gullible than folk who don;t think like me, so long as they have a grain of intelligence obviously.

That actually doesn't describe me very well at all, but that doesn't mean it is not a valid stereo type.

I am fairly unsociable and don't like 'the public' much but that is a fairly normal PH attribute!

No, just all the PHers who you claim share your personality characteristics?

You probably shouldn't misquote me seeing as you like everything to be so accurate.

I didn't say that every PH'er didn't like the public.

I have read threads where a lot of us stated we prefer a beer at home than being dragged out to be sociable.

That makes it a normal attribute, it doesn't mean every PH'er is the same.

I would go so far as to say people who are introspective on PH are in the minority. I've met quite a few PHers over the years and none were introspective. But perhaps the introspective ones were hiding - reading up on batty conspiracies etc.

Maybe you should just get out a bit more.

I didn't mention the introspective ones at all, so this is a whole new discussion.

We were talking about being unsociable, but what ever works for you to make derisive comments.

I wont take it personally as i don't know you, and you don't know me.

The two things I do know about you for sure is that you have a propensity to believe silly ideas and that you are, by your own admission, unsociable.

That explains a lot.

I might word it differently if i was writing my own description. I might say 'be open minded to all possibilities even if they appear to be far fetched' rather than to 'believe silly ideas'. I mean, its not like i am religious or anything.

But by your own admission you have a propensity to be rude to strangers on the internet, so I guess that is as close as we will get to a settlement.

Have a nice day smile
