Back in the early '00's I gave away a lot of new / good condition Renault 5 GT Turbo parts for free and binned loads of others. I remember thinking at the time, maybe I should keep / store them for the future, but decided otherwise.

The prices for some of those bits now would probably have paid for at least half of the cost of restoring my current 205 GTI frown

Does binning a car count? Lots of regret there...

  • Lego Technical set – I actually kept it (was the one from the 1980s where you could build the car or the dragster) -original box and 99% parts still there. But I made the mistake of giving it to my son when he was too young for it, and consequently most of the bits have got mixed in with the other Lego and the box got trashed
This one?

Just posted about this the other day in the lego thread; I'm selling mine (built, original) if you're interested, PM me.

My Pokemon card collection.

Had literally folders full, all of them are now worth money.

I never actually remember throwing them away but I suspect that as I grew older they made their way into the loft and then got left behind in a house move.

I scrapped a mkII Escort 1600 Sport, 2 door in about 1998. It was a crap example but even the logbook would be worth good money now! frown

It's earlier than that -

I had that one too as a kid, still got the bits but as above I know the parts are all mixed in with other sets now. Nothing better than tipping the whole lot onto the bedroom floor and just making something, ANYTHING that took your fancy.

Still wish I had that sort of inspiration these days...

yes Gave away all those comics and together with an early Corgi 007 DB5, all the Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet Dinkys... worth a few bob now.

Why are they worth anything? I've probably got the latter one and the bulldozer in my mothers attic.

I hounded my parents for a Tamiya Lamborghini Cheetah when I was a kid and was overjoyed when they got me one for Christmas. I didn't throw it out but I sold it for a few quid after a couple of years. Still kicking myself.

My entire bag of PS2 games that I had throughout my childhood. Restored my PS2 and had to spend £30 buying back a fraction of my games, I had over 150 all mint condition. Had a late 80's inkjet printer that I wish I still had too.

Binned by my profligate mother.

An Arabian dagger bought in Jordan. At least decades old, however for we knew it could've been much older. It even had a speck of red on it which I thought could've been ancient blood! Probably not, but I'll never know.

I always wanted to get it tested somewhere to be sure.

This model Panasonic flip top ghetto blaster. I'd wanted one for years, but for a number of years it had a few small faults I'd been meaning to get around to fixing, but never did. We were having a big clear out, and I thought, no, just get rid. This was a year ago, and I wish I hadn't. It would probably be years until I sorted it, but I would have one day.

just found some stuff i thought id thrown out in the loft at my parents house, superman anniversary edition oversized comic book , spiderman anniversery book too from back in the seventies, also my old annuals all in a box and still boxed meccano kits from the early seventies too. im made up i found em to be honest. dont care what they are worth just great memories. especialy reading all my old action comics , i loved hookjaw a kind of jaws spin off and the leapord of lime street in another set of comics. , seems like my mum kept loads of stuff, bagged and boxed and shifted to the loft. found my old casio sk5 sampling keyboard too , had much fun with that years ago. seems there is a roaring trade in old comics too, i have spiderman comics weekly from no 1 still with the paper bag mask through to no 91, and loads of mighty world of marvel too. probably over 40 or 50 issues, not counted but start from no 1 on .

A 1969 GTXL Capri (1.3) in Amber Gold that I left in an old lock up - VTX779G where are you now????

I cant believe what a tit I was to leave it behind as I moved, thinking it was too much trouble to take.

There was an old butler sink in the garden of our house when we moved in, left behind my the previous owner. When I revamped the patio, I dumped the old sink.

A few months later when i was at a garden centre, I noticed they were selling relaimed buter sinks (in worse condition than the one I dumped) for £80+. Oops

Not been scrapped or broken for parts, just untaxed. Still locked up? Last taxed 2007 but still licensed

I threw away loads of stuff, especially books, when I moved into my first flat in 1998. I have subsequently sought out and bought a few replacements at quite large expense since there seems to be a part of me that still wants to be 12. Here is one I tracked down and bought:
