I wasn't aware of the co-ops political links. Their ethical stance is something I can respect, but I don't understand why they still have to support one party or another.
It's understandable they may have historical links, but this day and age they should be concentrating on their core business.
Lots of companies make political donations, mostly to the Conservatives. Don't see why that would be a major dealbreaker, if you wanted to boycott any company that donated to the tories you would struggle to do anything.

There is one near me that despite being twice the floor space of the Tesco Metro down the road, has about half the shelf space. I can never find anything I want for dinner there for a decent price but pop in there if I am too lazy to walk down the street.

The one that opened in the new shopping development by my house is ok. Very expensive and the quality of the products are a bit meh, but they do make good bread and save me the 10 min drive to a big Tesco. The product quality is lower in the meat compared to M&S too, the chicken is always really stringy.

Saying that if a Tesco Expess opened in my town I would shop there first everytime, just like I stopped going to the awful local premier style shop instead,

The owners of that are investing £900,000 building a new shop, if I where them I would just sell the land to Tesco!

The self service in the co op are awful too, you can scan a item and by the time it’s come up on the screen you can add another to the scale without it noticing.

In the next town over the co op is empty now they’ve built a Tesco Expess. But they don’t reduce the amount of stuff they order in so there’s always loads of reduced meat etc. Which is good if that’s your bag.

OP, you are weird.
Absolutely this!
OP has a weird habit of starting ludicrous topics then disappearing. I doubt he will be back on this thread. Especially when someone pointed out their Labour Party affiliations (who remembers the glorious "Was David Cameron the worst prime minister ever?" tripe?!!)

I believe the term is "troll", although clearly he is doing something PHers like as he has been around a while now - take a look at https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/profile.asp?me...

I live right next to a coop and I’ve got a massive eucalyptus tree on my land which hangs over their land. I want to chop it down but they’ve told me I can’t. Can they stop me?

I agree, take a predominantly right wing web forum and swamp it with left leaning threads and comments (trolls). Makes picking out the detail so much harder and tends to control the discussion.
It is targetted and deliberate.

I am more vexed by the OP phrasing every topic he begins as a question. Very Daily Mail-esque.

As of last night i have no issue at all with Co-op's pricing!

My oven has packed up, was expecting to get a cheapo one to do us for now till we replaced the kitchen in a few years. While having a google I stumbled across Co-op electrical (I'm aware its another company just using the co-op name but still).

A brand new Rangemaster oven, from £600 down to £450, we were just about to buy it anyway as its a bargain, then I see, if you have a co-op card/membership, get another £150 off!

signed up there and then for £1 and this enabled me to get a £299 range master oven that will last us forever and a day, well chuffed!

Yep. I can't say I've ever really bought much from one, but I never will now. hehe

Our local co-op was recently refurbished, with a tidier glass entrance housing the new cash machine. It was more recently ram raided and we now no longer have a cash machine in the town.

I have a theory around how our local village Co-Op pricing policy works.

Upon delivery of a new item of stock, a note is made of the weight of the item. A second member of staff looks up today’s gold prices and then makes a 1:1 conversation to calculate the price. A third member now prints the shelf label and completes the ‘priced as if gold procedure’

The Co-op is like almost all other lefty institutions... Pretending to help poor people while screwing them over and lining their own pockets.

The bank nearly went bust gambling away its members' money. The shop is way overpriced and nowhere near the value of Lidl and others.

From Oxfam to Chairman Mao, the lefties always have a skeleton somewhere in their virtue-signaling closet.
WoW, bit overblown. Some people don’t mind paying a little extra for convience of local shopping. Check Tesco supermarket prices against thier own local store prices! You pay for local shopping whoever has a sign over the door.
As for the Chairman Mao, bullst I tried to get a copy of the Morning Star and they don’t stock it, some lefty insitituion that is. hehe

You are permitted to prune or cut down any tree on your land, regardless of whether it is healthy or not, if it is not subject to a Tree Preservation Order or located with a conservation area.

A Co-Op is our nearest decent store, still 10 mile round trip, but better than a useless local shop or a bigger but stupidly expensive store nearby, and handy to avoid a 40 mile return trip to the nearest big supermarket. Recently expanded greatly from the converted house it was in to a proper building.
Some prices are OK, you just have to watch what you get,eg Coke at £1.99/bottle, or Pringles varying from £1 to £2.50!!

Labour and Co-op are firmly in bed with one another. Shop at Co-op and you support Corbyn. Co-op offerings are also a bit crap and so no differentiating reason to choose them based on stock nor quality.

Now off to wash hand with soap for typing in agreement with Yipper hehe

There is one in walking distance to me, I see it as paying for the convenience. If you get yourself a CO-OP members card thing and scan it everytime you shop there, the money back adds up quickly. I save mine up and buy the Mrs a nice bottle of Red every so often. She thinks i'm ever so generous... cloud9

Yes I know it’s true what yippee posted, even though a little exaggerated for effect, but the exaggeration did lighten the meaning. The Co-op still provides a service for those stuck out in the middle of nowhere though which is more than can be said of nearly all other business names.
When I shop I 'don’t even consider the political tie ins but I have tbh and say that the thought of supporting the Labour Party would leave a sour taste.
I have to say that I have been a loyal cooperative supporter for decades but recent very bad episodes have tested thousands to the limit and beyond
