Took this in East Suffolk earlier today. Never sure how accurate these car temperature gauges are but it was certainly scorchio out there today.
Car temps are only accurate if it’s parked fully in a shaded place for a considerable time. Otherwise heat soak from the sun will increase temps. Asphalt and concrete can give big temp increases when the sun is in them.

Temps should be air temp only, not the temp in sunshine.
Or driving it maybe.

Out back watering the pots earlier, and I noticed trees in the distance with yellow leaves.

In July.

FFS

Some proper rain desperately needed

Back in the UK for a week next week. Would be appreciated if the temps could drop below 30 for the week please (at least we have a/c office, houses and shopping centers out here in the middle east).

To be fair, a lot of shops in town (Camberley) yesterday were lovely and cool.

From a quick google in 1976 it hit 30 degrees at Heathrow for 15 consecutive days, this year it’s hit 30 twice!

In 1976 it hit 32 in the UK for 16 consecutive days, this year twice!

Are we getting a bit carried away?

It's hit 30 a lot more than twice. But certainly no where near 15 days consecutively.

It is also much, much drier than any previous record dry spells.

We’ve had 8 weeks with no more than a mm of rain per day here. The heat hasn’t been a problem for me, it’s quite pleasant for sitting outside at the pub or walking along the beach. The dry is the only thing that’s a problem as it kills everything in the garden and makes everything else very dusty. I’d like some good summer storms!
