East will be better than West, South better than North.

One big but - sea temps are still low, so coastal areas will be foggy/cloudy and considerably cooler than inland.

Next week sees the hot weather start on Tuesday (day the kids go back here), peak on Friday, before a pleasant enough weekend.

Early indications that the Azores High might make a visit after that - extending and improving the warm weather.

As I stated in the winter thread - the presence of local, strong high pressures causing the cold spells, could also turn in our favour.

Just ordered a replacement ceramic grill for my gas Outback - and a new charcoal smoker.

I'm betting on a long dry summer (oops...)

Theoretically, there's only one way this warm spell should end (points to link above).

This is the wind storm which is bringing up (gradually warmer) southerlies this week. Yep, it's stretching from Ireland to Newfoundland, and Greenland to Medeira. Huge.

April temperature record is 29.4 on 16th April 1949.

Arome weather charts predict that could be broken in London or the usual parts of Essex/Kent that heat up.

Beeb predicting rain here on Saturday. rolleyes
Any rain in the south this weekend will be thundery downpours.

Next week sees a north/south split, the south holding on to some warmth (not as warm) - the Atlantic in control in the north. So South and East will be better than North and West, as is often the way.

Saturday, there's a low (but existing) chance of thunder, particularly in the South.

Sunday, much higher chance of more widespread, and heavier thunderstorms.

Supercells are large and organised storms with stronger winds, more lightning, higher chance of big hail and even tornadoes.
