Looking positive for high pressure to build. Back to mid 20s soon (in the south!)

Heading in to Autumn - the start won't be hot or very warm, but it will be decidedly pleasant. High pressure to form just to our east, so winds from the north sea for the south. Cool evenings and nights.

@Puggit.

Thank you for your sterling work throughout this thread. Your efforts, and those of others, have enhanced my enjoyment of this glorious summer.

Having said that, if next winter's weather is rubbish it will, of course, be ALL your fault!

Well, the high pressure keeps forming and sunspot activity is very low. Omens are currently good to excellent...

Is he not referring to winter?
I was.

Current warm spell should last for 2 weeks at best. After 2 weeks, the the charts are not painting a good picture.

Correct me if i am wrong but there was 2 sudden stratoferic warmings earlier this year, i understand that may well be responsible for the heavy snow etc earlier this year, i have a question, was these ssw,s responsible for the summer we have had and also is if so, is it still affecting our weather now?
Yep! They totally broke the jet stream and allowed high pressure to form where it doesn't normally (over northern Europe). I hinted in March/April that summer could be special.

I suspect this year's weather will be the subject of many scientific papers to come. Certainly feels like it's still effecting things.

Hottest ever summer in England, joint hottest for whole of UK: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-45399134?ns_source=t...

Cooler air now across most of UK thanks to a cold front from the north. The jet stream is now pointing directly at the UK, from the north - which isn't helpful.

So fairly cool compared to summer, but pleasant enough - specially for the South. High pressure should return next week.

Looking likely that the weekend weather will be interfered with by a low pressure system to our north/north east. Hopefully this will drag some warm air up from the south though...

Looking out to the Atlantic, hurricane season is upon us, and it's starting up with quite a bang. Good chance of some 'weaker' storms rebounding in the Atlantic when they hit the jet stream. They could have some big, and unpredictable, influences on our weather.

A few hours later it rained. Even more windy now.

Remains of Helene and Joyce to have a big effect on our weather next week. Final tracks could mean bad storms or sucking up warmth like Ophelia last year.

Remnants of Hurricane Helene visit tonight. Western and Northern areas taking the brunt.

Wednesday sees a classic Atlantic storm deepening along the jet stream. Almost certainly will be named Ali. Potential for severe disruption in Scotland due to wind.

Puggit, can you help me out with a long range forecast for marbella, i’m getting married on the 29th and weather is sunny on some websites and on one it shows a few showers.

Your help is appreciated.
It's a touch too far out at the moment for any kind of accuracy. The good news is that I can't see any hiccups in the works at this point. I'll try and remember to keep looking.

Bit more action for the South today. And Sat.

Sunday is up in the air, models keep changing their mind on strength and location. Likely to be a low pressure system in the north sea...
