Main risk of thunder today is around Yorkshire.

Last really fine day before we start slipping downhill. Atlantic starts to take more of a role in the weather. NW will suffer most, SE least.
Only fair I guess, as unusually I think the NW has had the best of this run of weather.

Floods in quite a lot of towns across Luxembourg over the weekend from heavy rain (electrical) storms:

Quite a few colleagues are out of the office today pumping out / drying out basements in their houses, some of which had around 2 feet of water.

MUCH more rain is expected in the next few days.

Good hopeful signs that the pressure from Atlantic weather won't last long. High probability of Azores High paying a visit next week...

I drove from Luxembourg city to Reims on Sunday and it was the heaviest rain I've ever driven in. Two lane motorway brought to a standstill, and couldn't even see the car in front. Utter madness, and I can see why there was so much flooding. The air felt odd before we shipped out.

ETA: Once we got moving again, a mate took a video of it. The camera doesn't do it justice, but the wipers were as fast as they could go and weren't clearing the screen properly.

Low pressure incoming! As you can see, southern UK generally dodges this.

High pressure in control next week smile

A good bit of rain we could do with here - we had a bit of rain on Sunday (couple of hours light rain) and a few weeks ago we had a short, sharp downpour. Prior to that (I may be misremembering) I'm sure the last meaningful precipitation we had was snow.

So as long as the weather is back next week I can hack some rain.

It's amazing how you forget normal. Last night I had a wtf moment because we had a bit of a sea mist come in. And today it's raining!

Grey, around 20 degrees. Slightly on the st side I guess.

Our cottage is 45 mins South of Le Mans. They've had some real torrential rain due to storms last month. Neighbour emailed to say the deluge was so bad it got in to the house. No damage (it's stone and tile downstairs).
