Not sure if it's me but seems slightly cooler today in Bristol, sat in the shade and if you stayed here just reading would need more than a t-shirt.

Still very hot in the sun.

I'm north of Bristol in Worcester, and here too it seems a lot fresher, even though temps are the same. I'm guessing the heat on monday drew out the moisture in the ground and the humidity is a lot lower. Much more bearable.

I used to live in Ankara and out in the sticks the temp would top 40 and you could fry eggs on the rocks by 11am. The same in the sahara when I was there, but that was a dry heat, and perfectly tolerable.

High humidity is my bug, although I loathe hot weather. I found the beast from the east far more palatable.

Heat peaks tomorrow, slightly cooler over the weekend. Probably safe to say that at present there is now no end in sight.

Maybe, but a small maybe, a minor blip over Sunday/Monday.

East Berks .... 15:45 hours

Some rather interesting cloud bubbling up over what looks like London (could be further, could be nearer). Had a few sun obscured by cloud minutes here too.

Feels too dry for anything happen but a lot of cloud compared to the days before when there wasn't a cloud in the sky.

Still stinkingly horribly hot though.

Proper 30 degree heat returns to the SE on Sunday. It's been a remarkably pleasant mid-high 20s this week, with low humidity.

The previously mentioned low may cause some rain in Devon/Cornwall in the later parts of Sunday. There's a small chance rain may spread further around south of the M4.

It is being said that this current hot spell is similar or could exceed 1976, which I cannot see at the moment. Saying that I was only five back then so only just remember it.

1990, 1995, 2003 and 2006 I do remember and this current spell doesn't seem to be up there with those as yet.

But if the forecasts are to believed, we are in for weeks more of this horrible hot weather (barr-humbug).

Puggit; a certain amount of weather forum discussion around models suggesting this is pretty much set for July - any thoughts based on your knowledge / experience?

The high pressure is strong, the Atlantic is weak. The jet stream is on holiday in Iceland.

There's very little evidence to suggest a change can happen.

Summer of '76 (I was 8) here we come ;-)

Roll on drought warnings and water shortages, if no rain for a month.

NI already has a hosepipe ban. Rest of us have been advised to keep showers down to 4 mins and no baths...

In fairness that’s more to do with being unable to cope with demand than a lack of water. Most water companies are struggling to supply enough water as we all try to keep our gardens alive and shower twice a day. The reservoir levels are apparently higher than this time last year.
