Hey folks, I'm looking for for some advice on a replacement vape at the <£40 end of the spectrum.
Over the past few years I've had 2x Innokin Cool Fire IV mods with the iSub G 10ml tank. Having lost the most recent one, I ordered a replacement with the TPD-compliant iSub VE tank. This has proved to be utter garbage, and has leaked from the bottom every single time I've filled it.

I'm a pretty light vaper, so don't need anything too hardcore - I can't be bothered with building my own kit, and just want something that works out of the box. Easily-available coils are also a must, because I am not organised enough to order from the internet in bulk.

I also have a question...

I have been on the vape full time since Monday, no fags. Go me.

I bought coils and extra juice to be prepared. Figured I'd change a coil today, (for no real reason) but when I took my first vape all I got was burning plastic.

So when should I change the coil, and how do I change the coil? (Aspire K1/iStick)

It’s always best to prime the coils first, just put a couple drops on the small holes at the side of the coil, and let it saturate then a couple more, then fit the coil, fill the tank and leave it sat there for 5-10 mins so it’s fully saturated. Should be good to go then.

If you fee it’s getting a burnt taste (dry hit) I usually put my fingers over the air holes and give it a few hard sucks so it pulls the juice into the coil head smile

Thanks. When do I need a new coil? I've had the same one in for a couple of years, albeit it's only been used on the odd occasion until recently.

I am a fairly light vaper, and tend to change mine once a fortnight or so. You need a new coil when the vape stops tasting fresh and clean, and you have the 'bubbling' noise when you draw on it.
Having the same one for "a couple of years" probably means that it's completely f*cked/saturated. I'm surprised it even worked!

I eased myself in for a week, smoked about half my normal fags and vaped the rest. Then just chucked it. This is day 9 without a smoke and can't say I miss it or have even really thought about it.

fk knows why I didn't do it sooner. Glass jar with the cash saved is on the window ledge. smile

Next plan is to buy a new vape thing so I have two, for backup purposes. Couple of criteria- must be shorter than my current iStick/Aspire K1 and must have the charge port on the side, not the bottom, because that's really bad design.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Plan then is to wean myself off the nicotine bit by bit, then chuck it altogether.

I'm full time on the Vapes now and have ZERO interest in Fags.

There has been a recent report about the long term effects of Vaping so I'm curious as to others views on this ?

Only long-term problem I've encountered so far is a kitchen cupboard full of liquid flavours that I no longer like. frown

Who knows really long-term as the studies can't compete with those for smoking but I'm now able to jog and I couldn't have done that as a smoker. Lung capacity is much better and I don't think I've had a proper cough in the last two years.

I should really quit vaping now as it got me off the cigarettes completely but TBH I still enjoy the habit. Down to 3mg nicotine at least.

Fortunately I can't say that I've ever had that. I use minimum 70/30 VG/PG, not sure if that makes a difference, sometimes 80/20.

I have used 80/20 most of the time ....maybe I need to change the coil more often .

Glad to be off the fags for good now

I've been vaping about 5 years, I have to stop soon before I have my next ear surgery.

Was on 18mg, dropped to 12, didn't notice it. I'm on 6 now, it's noticeable but not a major bind. In another couple of weeks it'll be 3 then zero a couple of weeks later.

I figure once I've got it to the habit phase it'll be easier to make the last step.

I found the only thing that made me wheezy was when I had reached the point where I was using juice with too much nicotine percentage, I would get crazy dreams too. I found that if I went down to a lower nic level, it would stop. That's when I got into making my own juices and have gradually reduced the nic level down to almost nothing. A mate of mine had a flavour I tried recently that was 2.4mg nicotine, my chest tightened up and I coughed like mad.

Reduce your nicotine level and see if that helps.

No worries.

It depends how you feel I guess, you may get withdrawal for a couple of days while your body gets used to the lower level. Try 3mg for a few days and see what it does.

Anyone who still likes the MTL experience should try the innokin Endura T20 kits, nice little pen device, I have been using mine for over a year with no problems, I had the t18e before that and still have it as a spare.

Coils are cheap too, the only downside is that if you have it too tight on the battery the draw is really tight, you just loosen it half a turn and it is perfect.

£25 for a kit at my local vape shop just now and about the same on Amazon, can get a pack of 4 coils for a tenner too.
