So mixing your own eliquid; who does it, do they taste as good and how cheap is it?

Been fancying giving this a go for a while but not sure if it's going to be something which costs me twice as much to make something half as good.

Check out carpvaper tv on you tube , steve who runs it is a great guy from Norwich. he has many vids on mixing your own and fantastic advice. Also links to suppliers and believe me it does work out a hell of a lot cheaper when you get the hang of it , and its not hard. You will need , p.g. v.g. and a range of flavours and some scales. the small cheap digi ones are fine. all told you can get started on about 25 quid and have lots to play with and will make a lot of juice too, there are also websites that give recipies too.

New one on me I’ll take a look. The DIY juices have been very hit & miss from ELR, most have turned out horrible frown

I tend to buy the ready made one shot concentrates now then add my own VG/PG/Nic base. Drip Hacks do some nice flavours. I’ve got a ton of concentrates upstairs, need to get back into it. Must have over 200 up there! I usually pick a load up in the sales.

I get my bottles (30/60/100ml Boston bottles) from Lucemill or ibottles, the Boston bottles have a 20ml opening so easier to use, VG & PG from darkstar, 72% nic I stocked up on before the TPD came in, not sure where’s the cheapest to get that now?

One shots (loads of others though!)

VG & PG

Scales I use one of these but i think I paid around £15 for mine. You need one that goes to 0.01g not 0.1g it’s more accurate especially if your mixing into small 10ml bottles.

Envy Digital Dose Weigh Scale, 500/0.01 g https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00JMAL1T8/ref=cm_sw_r...

For VG & PG I picked up some clear 12 or 18 ounce sauce bottles (like you get in cafes for ketchup etc) from nisbits. Makes it easier to get the liquid into the bottles.

https://www.nisbets.co.uk/vogue-clear-squeeze-sauc...

Initial cost is a little high but you save loads vs buying £4.50 10ml bottles, I use a mesh tank back home & can easily get through 30ml a day if I’m hammering it so could ever afford to buy juice like before!

Rhe scales i use are like jewellers scales . go from0.01 to 2 kg and were a fiver with free delivery from ebay . seem to work just fine for me . good idea on using the sauce bottles too. will have to go get some tomorrow . ive seen them in the local pound shop for 1.50 for 3 . i just started with about 5 or 6 concentrates , mainly fruit type flavours but am expanding on those now. for nicotine i just use a nic shot from the vape shop i think they are a pound each . I got some empty shortfill bottles from ebay too but have a load i kept from bought ones and cleaned them out and reused them too.

scale shmales, syringes all the way!

Mixshop have lots of easy to mix flavours (the cotswold ones are so good) https://www.mixshop.co.uk/

I use vapable for most of my ingredients and bottles and syringes https://vapable.com/
Capella make the best flavour concentrates for using in recipes, there's a reason they're more expensive!

Nicotine from ebay, bit dodgy but the government has given me no option

My very simple, bog standard DTL vape is as follows

8ml CAP Sweet Strawberry
8ml CAP Dragonfruit
5ml CAP Sweet cream
4ml 72mg Nic (for roughly 3mg)

Fill to the top with VG

Shake and vape. Bosh. (the longer you steep the creamier it gets)

Thanks, I have just ordered 100ml of Capella chocolate fudge browny concentrate to try and make some of my desert flavours a bit better. Pretty good value at just less than £11 ind delivery.

For anyone using that website (vapable) you can use discount code 'potv10' for a cheeky further 10% off..

So i have had the uwell nunchaku for a little while now and all is well...

Just cant decide on wattage to use i flick between 38-43 watts on the 0.25ohm coil

The optimum labelled on the coil is 40-50

Could anyone with vaping experience explain to me if vaping below the optimum is bad for the coil and should i stick to my 43 watts and not change?

Coils are £10 for 4 (available in 0.25 and 0.4 ohm) and they're push-fit, so no more worries about cross-threading. I bought the bubble tank from eBay to get beyond the 2ml TPD capacity.
You can remove the silicone bit inside the tank...takes abit of effort and muscle and some pliers.

I did that first thing and it is now a 5ml tank.

Do you have a silicone bung in the tank? I've got the full Nunchaku system and when you buy it the tank is actually 5ml but they put a big piece of silicone inside to reduce the capacity to 2ml. You can just pull it out, so with your bubble tank you'll be up to 7ml.

Gets my vote though, best device I've used

Out if interest what wattage do you use your nunchaku tank on?

Also anyone know best way to clean coils without alcohol?

I use it around 40-50w on a 0.4ohm coil (packaging say 45-55w), and the liquids I use are 70/30 but I find some taste better at a lower wattage, some at a higher wattage. It's just trial and error really.

I typically get 10-14 days out of a coil and I'd say I'm quite a heavy vaper, probably c. 15ml of liquid a day and usually two batteries.

I've never cleaned the coils, I just bin them when the taste goes. But I do take the tank apart once a week and clean it all thoroughly in warm water.

I just bin the coils but run the tank though a cheap jewellery cleaner every now and then

When you want to change flavour do you just put the new flavour into the tank? Or do you clean out the tank and coil?

Ive been using the same flavour for ages because i cant seem to find anywhere which tells me how to swap flavours

Help will be much appreciated. Thanks

Just throw it in when you get low. I mix flavours all the time. If it’s the same pg/vag is close it has no negative impact. It’s just a flavour

I just put the new flavour into the tank without cleaning it or changing the coil. Sometimes the old flavour lingers in the coil, if that is the case then ill change flavours when I change the coil

surely you just vape the old flavour off. Depends how much is in the tank

Thats what I thought but sometimes even a tank of juice later you can still taste the previous flavour. Changing the coil tends to fix that.

Agreed, if you have quite different flavours it can linger
