Other half bought me an Aspire GoTek X a couple of weeks ago as a fun little reserve. Haven’t stopped using it. Great thing about these is there’s a 4.5ml pod/coil unit available as opposed to the 2ml they’re supplied with. Two pods are just £4.99 and the unit itself was under a tenner. Holding charge well so far and an adjustable airflow that doesn’t slide out of place once it’s set and thrown in a bag or pocket.

I've looked long and hard at that over the past few days. If nothing else the lanyard will come in handy when walking the dogs smile . Ultimately didn't think the battery was big enough, plus the pods are twice the price of the K3 coils, and I'd need 2 units (although that applies to everything I guess)

Ended up going for an aspire K3 again, but I think when the Nautilus AIO packs up (my backup and currently only vape) I'll get one of these

Edit. Should have ordered one when I first came across them, bloody AIO is very intermittent (catches on the pod are iffy), so have ordered one. Looking forward to it!!

Thanks for all the recommendations folks

This box is drinking juice. Where’s best to buy 500ml premix please? Not too bothered on flavours by custard/milk/cream type. Thank you

To start off in the UK you cannot buy premix juice that contains nicotine in 500ml bottles. The UK rules restrict the sale of nicotine-containing e-liquid to 10ml. However to get round that you can buy a large bottle of juice and add nicotine to the strength you require.

To get round this I have recently been buying Bottle Shots from Darkstar. They are a 250ml bottle containing about 20% flavouring. You then add nicotine to the level you require and they provide you with a guide, then top up with the base mix

If using 10ml Nicotine Shots (18mg):
2 x Nicotine Shots (18mg) in a 250ml Bottle Shot = 1.5mg Total
4 x Nicotine Shots (18mg) in a 250ml Bottle Shot = 3mg Total
8 x Nicotine Shots (18mg) in a 250ml Bottle Shot = 6mg Total

Choose your flavour https://darkstar.co.uk/products/vanilla-cream-cust...
Add your nicotine bottles https://darkstar.co.uk/collections/nicotine-shots/...
Top up with VG/PG mix https://darkstar.co.uk/collections/pg-vg-base-mix/...

You could start out with one of their bundles which contains everything then go from there

Re the regs, they've never made sense to me...

50mg ready to vape 3mg? nono
1 litre of 72mg nicotine? why yes, that's fine confused

Have you tried that Cerberus? Sounds heavenly, and rave reviews too. I never found a cheap custard ready to go and got into the habit of using 88vapes for convenience over the last couple of years, and I just sort of forgot about custards.

Think I'll order that and the Athena bundle. I'll have to mess about to get to 50/50 as they don't seem to cater for that - but that price (£15 with 8 nic shots / 6mg) is astonishing all in. Might need to add a few more bits to get to the free shipping mark, any recommendations??

Don't suppose you know the VG ratio in the high VG mix? Seeing as they offer 2 choices - 70/30 and high, I'd guess at 80/20 or 90/10. I've got about a litre of PG just sitting there, so I should just about have enough mix for both flavours.

Same here. My k3 is just sitting there. My mate vapes the R and M 7000 puffs @ £10 a pop, I reckon 2 of these and 4 pods would leave enough change from £40 to fill them up several times over

Thanks, I'm getting 100ml bottles pre-mixed from Motivape at the moment so assumed someone would be selling larger bottles too. I've tried mixing myself (that's what got me back into smoking last, as whichever quantity I tried was wrong).

Not tried Cerberus might try it next. I ordered the one I linked to as what I am vaping at the moment is too sweet like vaping on a boiled sweet. Free shipping is £40 even if you doubled your order you would not hit that.

You want a 50VG/50PG mix? thats a bit unusual, the bundles seem to be geared to high or 70VG/30PG vapers. They do 100% VG and 100% PG nicotine shots and 100% VG and 100% PG base mix for you to mix 50/50 but works out more expensive than the bundle price.

Its not really mixig as in DIY measuring or weighing things out.

I go for the bundles. Pick the flavour, VG/PG ratio and nicoting strength. Bottle is 20% filled with flavour consentrate, pour in the supplied nicotine shots and top up with base mix and thats it.

Once you try a bundle at say a 3mg nicotine and you like it, then you know you need four nicotine shots for a 250ml bottle. You can then buy 20 nicotine shots and the base mix (for me high VG same as the bundles) then you can try other flavour bottle shots.

Get bottle shot add four nicotine shots and top it up with base mix.

Just spotted in this video at 1:53 the bottle is showing 85%VG and 15% PG

Cerberus is a tenner and the Anthena kit is £15 so I'm more than halfway there biggrin Another bundle and maybe a couple of nic shots will get me over the line.

Do you follow the steeping guidelines? Everything I've mixed tasted ok from day 1 and can't say I've really noticed the flavour evolving much even on the vanilla stuff (Vanilla Cheesecake from Joosejuice going waaaay back). Fruits and menthols don't really require steeping IIRC?

Cotty said:

Not really for the pen / small vape market. Although I wonder if the kit I've mentioned a few times (the Gotek x) would cope with 70/30? Probably is my guess (0.8ohm coil). My K3 runs 1.6/1.8ohm and thats better suited to 50/50

Surprised they don't offer the option really. But not a problem as I said.

Not really. The steep time of the juice I have been using is 48 hours. I usually buy the next pack and mix it up before I have run out so its never been an issue. however now looking at the custard I ordered it has a six week steep time eek I probably have 300ml of made up juice so will mix the new one when it arrives and jump into the new one once the 300ml has gone.

Im not really that bothered about strong flavours. Im even tempted to use one of the old bottles and split the flavouring to get a more muted taste and make up two bottles of 10% flavoured juice..

Thinking we must have exhausted international supplies of coils for the existing tank, so in the market for a new one. TPD rules suck so assuming everything now comes with 2ml max tanks, it must be available to buy a bubble glass for whatever the replacement may be to give it a reasonable capacity...

There is an overwhelming choice - any recommendations for the current crop of tanks with reasonably priced replacement coils??!

Hi all

Wonder if you can help

I have someone I need to get off the cigs. Old school elderly person in full denial about how much they smoke.

So I need an easy to use, easy to purchase/replenish from the high-street, type vape or eCig, that they will take to easily / enjoy (for want of a better phrase but something they will be encouraged to use).

I know nothing about any of this so when I read about replacement coils etc I think its going to be too technical and too much hassle and that they will default back to the real thing too easily.

I recall reading that some vales had been found to be unsafe with some people suffering quite bad side effects. Not sure if true or media hysteria. But I need a tried and tested safe one.

All ideas and recommendations hugely appreciated

Thanks

As a first step vape, I would look at a disposable one to start with. Putting aside i think they should be banned (disposable ones), they are the simplest device. You simply take the cap off and start vaping. Then discard once spent. No refilling, not changing coils. If they get on with it, then's the time to move up and that's a trip to the vape shop as there's so many to choose from, it really comes down to personal preference.

Side effects are exceptionally rare. You may have come across stories about something called popcorn lung. This is has long been debunked. The only link was that workers in popcorn factories suffered from this and the cause was a particle that was also found in some early juices (long since banned). The juice is nicotine (itself, benign the harm from smoking coming from the burning of organic material), glycerine and flavouring...sugar, essentially. Its health consequences are on par with coffee or tea.

It's not totally risk-free. But nor is coffee. But it is immeasurably better than smoking.

The most serious risk is dodgy batteries so avoid buying anything from dodgy vendors.

I'll be honest though, I don't fancy your chances of weening off your elderly friend / relative from the fags. It gets to a stage where the habit is so baked-in to the person's psychology as to be impossible to break. And depending on how old they are, the chances are the damage has already been done. Try, by all means but keep expectations in check.

Its going to be very difficult to get them to try vaping if they don't want to.

A friend wanted his parents to try it so I lent them a very simple starter kit. They returned it sayng they didn't like the flavour. They could have tried one the the thousands of other flavours but it was their way of saying I don't want to stop smoking. Neither of his parents are with us anymore, but as someone else said by that age the damage is probably already done..

This is worth a go as a cheap and simple vape. (You refill the pod, when the flavour goes after circa one week....bin the pod). Agree with the suggestion of a disposable first though

Thanks for the replies, all appreciated.

Admittedly a long shot but will take anything that helps even if its a reduction.

Not really answering your question but for long term vaping, personally I'd avoid Aspire like the plague. I had a number of leaky tanks and dodgy battery connections. I moved over to Innokin 18 months ago and haven't had a problem since.

In terms of juice, I usually get mine from Decadent Vapours
