Yeah, you can. Just tell that fat geezer to get out of the way biggrin

Is access just to the length of the first block? If so, just pull across the entrance and walk/wheel the stuff up?
I need to get right to the end. I'm not sure if the NO ENTRY sign is for the side road or Peter Street but I did see vehicles down it on Friday.

I'm going to try and phone the council streets team and ask them but thought I'd try here before sitting on hold for ages!

I'd usually just block the entrance and unload there but there's so much stuff it would take at least 5 trips to the van and back which I want to avoid.

The sign is clear - you can go down the road, but you can't any further than that road because a closure is in place further up. The sign is almost certainly in the middle simply because it's such a narrow street.

exactly - that road isn't closed. Its the road ahead of that road which is closed.

So I can move the sign. Drive down. Unload. Then go back out to park and out the sign back.

I'd move the sign to one side, enough to gain access, and then leave it like that. Because that's how it should be. It shouldn't be blocking the whole road as otherwise it would be just "Closed" rather "Closed - Access Only"

As it is right now, the "Closed - Access Only" sign is preventing access.

Yeah, I'm gonna do that. I've tried to phone Westminster Council to find out if I am allowed to drive down and they can't answer!

Just gonna risk it.

Really?

Because the heat drives the moisture out.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone who feels important had already moved it to restrict access when they shouldn't have done.

Bake it a bit too long, and it does.

In a conventional oven, the crust protects the inside of the loaf from the heat. A microwave makes the whole thing 'wobble' to the core.

What is a Think Tank? The BBC always seems to be interviewing people from a So-And-So Think Tank. I have a vision of people gathering in big see-through containers to sit and look thoughtful. Is being in a Think Tank an actual job? Are Think Tank's monopolies or is it a competitive marketplace? Do Think Tank's poach thinkers from other Think Tanks? Am I over thinking this?

Yes. The latter. Yes. Yes.

Indeed. Toast is hardly known for its softness.

A group of people that produce reports suggesting what they think the govt should do.

Gather in small untidy offices, stare at laptops and yes, look thoughtful.

Yes. Although there are also interns and freelance contributors.

Very competitive.

Yes, though people generally move between think tanks with similar views who tend to be quite amicable with each other

Possibly

How did people work out how to bake cakes (and make all the necessary ingredients, combine them in the right way etc)?

But yet when you find a left over donut from yesterday, 10 seconds or so in the micro makes it nice and soft again, although it does make the jam hotter than the sun!

It's another phrase for 'Focus Group' or 'Roundtable'.....or as I prefer to call them, 'meetings'.

I am required to organise them from time to time. If structured well and you get the right participants, they can be useful. One I chaired last year was on the issue of single-use plastic and some of the outcomes of that looks to have found its way into the government's revised waste strategy review which will then move to policy at some point.

It's not uncommon to hold a really good, progressive gathering with some of the best people leading to some very sound outcomes, only for them to be ignored because they don't align with political or policy agendas.

Think Tanks do have their uses but to be honest, a great deal of them are definitions of the maxim that 'A camel is a horse drawn by committee'.
