It amazes me that even 'normal' Nescafe still exists. Tastes nothing like coffee at all...
agreed. We are weird in the UK with our sentimental attachment to post-war rationing products. Still, it's not Mellow Birds.

I don't dispute that, but i kinda hoped it may expand to a larger quantity.. and evolve to host some decent coffee.
there is more than likely some maths that says something to the effect of... for each increment X of volume coffee you'd need to increase the heat source by X cubed... or something.

I can only remember three teachers' nicknames. "Chalky" White and "Spud" Murphy of course and then there was "Titch" McCarthy - Latin teacher, very small in stature but huge in temper.

I only ever tried them once.
I took a lady up the London monument. I thought it might be nice to have a coffee at the top, so I bought a couple.

Both of us agree with your assessment of the coffee.

If that's not a euphemism it should be

Sadly not for her, though.

Libraries.
This is for books that are generally available and not reference libraries.

It might just be my experience but they have died in my world. It used to be that my father and I would visit every week and switch out a stack of books. With electronic versions taking over I feel the library has had its time.

I visited one today and it’s the closesest to communism I’ve been recently. Why? They are almost all state funded outlets for approved literature.

They also have well meaning people trying to convince me I need to rent a VHS on Benjamin Franklin. In time lines, the VHS is closer to Franklin than it is to me.

They were slashed as part of the austerity drive by the 2010 govt, loads of librarians laid off and replaced (if you're lucky) by volunteers. Many simply closed. This is from 2016, it's not getting any better-

I wonder if the Carnegie libraries have been spared? IIRC, part of the deal was that the council would provide the funds to run them and Carnegie would build it.

My local library is well used, albeit mainly by children and the elderly.
