The irony being even the USB stick is fast becoming outdated! Must be 2-3 years since I used one now!
What do you use instead? Cloud storage I assume?

Flash drives are far more convenient I find smile
I use a google drive with unlimited storage, using gmail I can attach as many files as I need.

If someone is in the same room I just use airdrop. smile

I will admit to using external hard drives for anything over 10GB though.
Cloud storage yes. A combination of Google drive and ondrive. Occasionally a microSD card for some physical transfers but generally cloud.

It's so easy now, I've got work / personal onedrive accounts setup on my work and personal laptop so any files that I need on both are automatically there and synced. If I ever need them on another PC I can access them online. The way the accounts are integrated on windows now you barely even notice you're using the cloud as opposed to any other windows folder.

I know USB sticks aren't consigned to the history books but they're nowhere near as widespread as they were 5-10 years ago. smile

What do you find more convenient about flash drives out of interest?

I remember the cigarette sweets and the tobacco made from coconut.
Could not see that going down well today!
Also had a Johnny 7,one of the few toys I would like to have again, can't see that been acceptable either today.
It wasn't so bad being a kid in the sixties.

Those 3.5" floppies - which were around when I were a kid in the early 90s - hold 0.002% of the data, and are ~170 times bigger! Madness.
Screenshot from my phone with its micro SD

And probably sadly appropriate for this thread, it's a screenshot from a Win10 phone.

Not round here they've not, lots of younger kids have them these days so instead of young teens mucking about in skate parks on them like they did in the past it's more 7-11 year olds. Even my 3 year old nephew has a three wheeled kiddies version!

Or... were you talking more of this weird thing that adults in the south were doing using them as a mode of transport around cities?

On my walk from Euston I regularly see them.

From one particularly rude mum and child who dominate the pavement and whip round 90 degree corners at full chat (well, what passes for full chat, you still have to dive out the way) to an older and immaculately dressed gentleman

All sorts do it

Just discs in general - DVD's, blu-rays, anything to do with a computer.

I cant remember the last time I used one and dont have a DVD player or Blu Ray player at home.

They died a lot quicker than I thought they would once high speed internet came along.

I expect it’s been posted already but those Global Hypercolour t-shirts that changed colour with body heat. Everybody had one and everybody did the handprint thing when they got one. Seemed to disappear overnight and haven’t been seen since.

laugh I was scrolling through your post, itching to post about the irony of that screenshot, but you did it reflexively.

Back in the day I saw one of these in Southport beat a 3-litre Capri away from a set of traffic lights. Turns out it was well-known locally; the owner had fitted it with a 750cc Norton engine! eek

Quatro drink. Seem to remember it was luminous green. God knows what colouring and chemicals were in it in the 80s.

Oh god I was in primary school when these came out. One kid (presumably a billionaire’s son) had one. I wanted it so much.

I save 10 weeks paper round money to buy one of these, something daft like £6 a week I seem to remember, then spent weeks tormenting teachers in audio/visual lessons...
