Oh and to answer your question Dicky, yes, no, sort of!!! You see my great uncle Henry "Bobtail Bandit" Morris was a dispatch rider for the Yanks during WW2, it's rumoured that he once jumped over a Panzer, ricocheted off a half track, plowed through an enemy gun position, punched the SS captain who was in charge of that lot on the way past and still managed to make it back to barracks in time for Tiffin, all because of his trusty "Harley Davidson Bobtail". Now I know what you're all thinking, "Wow his family must have been so proud of him!!" Sort of, you see the issue was he as deaf as a post and a heavy drinker, he was supposed to be delivering a message to the front line, the other side of the country!!!!!

I’ve just woken up.

Have I had another anaesthetic? Only, I wasn’t expecting anything, but the last thing I remember was swinging from a steeple/spire/tower, then someone feeding me “liquorice”, which frankly, I can only describe as tasting “odd”. I also feel disproportionately anxious about farting.

As well as the surgical scars I already knew about, I also appear to be sporting a brand spanking new tattoo, which seems to say “Dibble ‘n’ NC 4eva”, entwined around a heart. I say “heart”, could be anything internal. It’s definitely offal though.

I’m not sure I like it. Well, the tattoo isn’t *that* bad, I just wish as my first one, it had been a little less, shall we say... “prominent”. I can’t imagine I’d have asked for such a large “piece” (as I believe they are referred too in tatto circles) all over my left calf like that. I can’t imagine the ladies in the Trivington le Marsh synchronised swimming team will be too happy when I turn up after my recovery at the next practice. Let’s just say, it’s going to take more than a dab of foundation and a blob of concealer to cover it adequately for the 2019 season.

Completely nrelated to any of the above, that’s a rather spanking TVR. Looks great fun. I. Still jealous of all these trips you’ve all got planned. It’s making me determined to get fixed so I can resume my travelling, even if that’s only the odd city break here and there. Odd, as in occasional. Mostly.

The high toll cost isn't the main reason why I'm not going to LM Classic.
I wasn't feeling the love for it.
I would have been approaching from the other direction, where tolls are even higher.
Ferry is booked now,so not changing.
I will be coming back as LM Classicos are leaving.......waveybyebyewaveybyebyewavey
In the future consider using the old roads. They don't have tolls, they are pitchers queue and are a slice of Old France you just don't get on the Autoroutes.

Mrs C and I did the Italian Lakes one year and the South of France another year and the peage added about £200 to the travel cost - each way! Use the old roads, take longer and use the peage money to easily cover the cost of another night in a hotel. Make the journey part of the holiday.

I pay it but don't often look at every item on the statement. Also my credit card adds on a foreign transaction charge each time the card is used.

I'm getting a new charge free card tomorrow that I can use while on Holiday.

True. But what about the rest of Scandiwegia?

A mate of mine came over today and gave me a lift to a couple of places. We are thinking of a few days to Denmark, mainly to go to Legoland. Beer may also feature.

I can’t decide whether to fly, or to do a bit of a road trip. Flying is obviously much quicker, but then we can’t bring much back in the way of souvenirs (beer and Lego). Plenty of time to decide, won’t be for a few months yet. I’m thinking we can fly and if I go with SAS, it often works out pretty cheap to “upgrade” to business class, which means there’s 2 x 23kg hold bags each, plus food/booze on board and use of the lounges. By the time you’ve bought a couple of beers at the airport, the “upgrade” is pretty much covered. We can be pretty flexible on days/times, so can pick the cheaper days as well. On top of that, if we fly, we’d save a day at least either end, so no need to have a hotel on the way there and back. It starts off looking more expensive to fly but quickly works out cheaper once you start taking stuff like hotels, ferry/tunnel and fuel into account. Or if not necessarily cheaper, more time at the destination for similar cash.

The down side is of course it’s much less of a “road trip”. It’s about 600 miles or so from Rotterdam to Copenhagen. I’ve done that quite easily on the bike, only really stopping for fuel, leaving Rotterdam about 9am from the ferry and getting to the digs in Copenhagen about 6pm, but that’s doing it on the motorway and it’s a bit of a dull slog. Going by car would mean you’d have to factor in traffic, breakdowns (vehicular and/or personal), road works, congestion... for a short break, it’s seeming more and more like flying is the better option, with the only real downside being we couldn’t bring a bootful of Lego back home with us.

Not doing the driving obviously has its benefits and drawbacks. It’s quite nice to have a rough outline, but be able to stop when/if you fancy it, bit of a laugh on the drive, not having to worry about (his) kids, basically having “me” time for us both (he’s had a tough time at work recently, he’s also a cop). All that said, I think I’m definitely wavering towards flying, as he could drive over to mine, dump his car here and we can catch a train half a mile from my front door directly to the airport. Plus, airport beers... (we http://www.mercerwatch.comOlufsen probabl6 fly from Manchester).

I’m just north of Liverpool (about 20 miles or so), so nowhere near Hereford. I’ve no idea what colour the boathouse is. But if I get to play on one of those CNC jobs, however many axisisisisises it’s got, I’m happy to travel!

Ignore them. Pay them no heed. They are but pagans and infidels who know nothing of fine dining. rolleyes
I refuse to show them pictures of my evening repast, but I will share it with you, my dear friends.

Sour cream and chive Pringle, anyone? cloud9

Anyhow, remember the alpacas I mentioned a while back? I'm fairly certain it was mentioned that one of them was named 'Percy'.
Given that glenrobbo's TVR is also a Percy, I wonder if we should adopt another animal to keep at The Towers in recognition?

Obviously it'll be called Percy, what type of animal is open to suggestion. I was thinking polar bear, but would we need to install some sort of industrial chiller equipment? Don't know a lot about them other than they can get jolly cross if they're riled.
I think a platypus would fit the bill ( sorry! ) perfectly. "Percy Platypus": a slightly eccentric, offbeat, non-conformist unexpectedly strange yet cuddly animal, soft and furry to the touch, but with a bill to protect and defend if the need arises.
Perfect. cloud9
All we need to do is invert the Towers so he will feel at home. And we must all learn to speak 'Strine:

eg. "Airman X" = Breakfast.

You get the gist....

Welcome back Dibbers!
You may have been a bit overchilled with all that anti-freeze last night, but you got really lucky with NC.
You do realise that with your new "piece of tat", your pelt is potentially worth 1000's? Some people would give their right arm to be engraved with a tattoo with "NC" hand-crafted by the great man himself. If you were flayed alive, you could sell your skin and retire. Comfortably.
Just sayin'.

And if it's Lego you want, just hop along to Windsor. Or the new store in that there Lundin.
Knightsbridge or Piccadilly or somewhere. Cheaper than Denmark. A lot cheaper..h
But you should still go on your trip.
If it helps, I know of lots of odd cities: Chesterfield for starters. You don't get much odder than that! Just look at the cathedral spire! ... No, on second thoughts, you've probably had enough of those for one week!
Kathmandu: now that's an odd city: quite a remarkable place. Go there. It's an experience.
